Phillips has had history of concussions that made him retire when at UCLA. Him being absent when he could have gotten a clean bill of health from NFL doctors raises red flags for me

Someone misinterpreted what was written:

“apparently was not at the follow-up medical testing in Indianapolis earlier this month.”

It wasn’t a ‘no-show’, it was a COVID-related issue.

It was COVID related, however, there were apparently some whispers that he may have faked the diagnosis because of a potential failed drug test.

Seems quite far fetched to me. I would assume that he would have had to provide some sort of confirmation to the NFL to skip the medical exam.

How on earth would you fake a positive covid test.

Fake news.
Probably....and you came real close to convincing me he is the guy to get.

I prefer to take some chances but this guy in this environment has gotta be a no for me.

I'm concerned that the first hit after the check clears is about all we are going to see from him.

I'd rather bet on Ojulari. I just don't see enough difference to justify to risk.

Off course all moot because that first pick is going to be a corner and we all know it.

His 2nd deal is what you have to worry about.

I’ll take 5 years on the cheap.

Also, he’s a high motor player and played 2 years at Miami with no on the field problems I’m aware of or off the field.

If his medical is bad then by all means pass but Phillips is a much better prospect than Ojulari IMO..

Im tired of Dallas just doing the standard thing to do and getting mediocre results

Drafting Jaylon Smith was beyond dumb.. This isn’t that kind of thing and I don’t see Phillips taking a lot of shots to the head as a defensive end anyways. Those guys just don’t take many headshots.

I mean anyone could say they tested positive. If the league didn't ask for confirmation, sure, he could pull it off. I would guess that if any player had top opt out of a league event due to COVID, the league would require proof.

Did those "whispers" come from a team hoping to see him drop?

Very well could. But at the end of the day, I can't imagine the NFL would have a process in place where a guy could just skip a medical evaluation without proving the reason for missing it. So I can't really go down that rabbit hole on Phillips.

I chalk it up to our current COVID situation. Changes everything.

This video convinced me that Phillips is the most talented edge in the draft but is also the reason I would not draft him.
