I believe the trade chart gives us a 2. However, they have 2 3's in mid-3rd rd that are very attractive.
My goal is really load up with talent not quantity
If we got 4-5 players in this draft and they were good quality picks I’d be fine if that’s all we got
And we could use a lower pick to entice a second from someone too

Those two third's we our 2, would give us serious ammo to go get whoever we want. Even if we kept them, 6 players in the top 100.

I gotta go with the coaches. I know, Rod wanted Taco......but you hire a new staff, let them have some ownership.

No way! You pay the scouts for a reason. The coaches give direction to the scouts what their needs are. They take that into consideration already.

What this tells me, Horn is going to be their pick. This morning was probably misinformation to get people to think the Cowboys had to have Surtain. Horn is a very attractive option, he has that dog in him with his competitiveness. His attitude and chip kind of reminds me of Richard Sherman. Different type of players, but competitive as hell. Many insiders have Horn over Surtain, it's really more about which flavor of ice cream you like, as they are closely rated. If Horn fits Quinn's scheme better, make the pick. Certainly helps when Pitts states Horn was the toughest match-up he faced this year.

That's one of those snippy comments after getting owned by Surtain. So much so that after the first quarter Pitts moved off Surtain.

It's against players like Pitts that Horn will struggle in the NFL, where he can't out muscle his opponent.

Still convinced Horn is the pick....highlight v technique, there's no contest.

It sounds like scheme versus talent, coaches with their scheme/teachability perspective and priority, and scouts approaching it from a capability standpoint. Much like what we talk about around here, the classical debate.

For me, talent should change the scheme, but quite often lately, talented players play out of position in Dallas
Actually we drafted for talent last season. Big Mike said we draft the player and make him fit the scheme

the traditional cover 3 can work with guys like surtain/horn and diggs on the other side. Just need to make sure the deep safety has some range.

If our objective is to be a mid tier defense.... but win the turnover battle most games I’m all for it. Giving this offense extra possessions would go a long way.

An old friend of mine is a scout for the cowboys, he's a nice guy, but I'll trust Quinn and his staff on this one

I hate drafting a corner early.

If it’s Horn vs Surtain I’m drafting Horn.

Surtain is better today but it’s close and I think Horn passes him by.

Yeah, this is not true. The Cowboys never played the Seattle scheme. NEVER.

That's just wrong.

Dude, the scheme that Seattle plays in their secondary was really no different than what the Cowboys started doing in 2013. Who taught Pete Carroll and influenced how he approaches defense and scheming on the back end? I'll give you a hint - his name rhymes with Monte Kiffin. the same guy who put the scheme in Dallas in 2013, and also influenced Rod Marinelli's views on defense.
