The former college defensive end who will play defensive tackle in the NFL said no team has talked to him more than the Dallas Cowboys.

Williams also conducted a virtual visit with coach Mike McCarthy, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, defensive line coach Aden Durde, vice president of player personnel Will McClay and assistant defensive line coach Leon Lett. from Yahoo.

If they like him that much I doubt they pass at 44.

I won't mind, but would mind a lot less with a deal down from 10.

Looks like the Cowboys are looking for a potential DT gem in the 3rd round at the earliest, which tells me they don't plan to address the DT position in either the 1st or 2nd rounds.

He will probably make it to one spot ahead of us and get drafted right in front of us.

Maybe. But remember that we drafted Trysten Hill in the second round. Usually when Dallas think it's outsmarting the league, the only one it ends up outsmarting is itself.

I hope that if we take Williams it's in the third round and not the second.

This is exactly why I don't trust this Cowboys front office. They always get it wrong when it comes to Defense.

This draft has many very good CBs to be had during the first 2 - 3 rounds, but very good DTs is extremely limited. I would rather trade down in the 1st, pick up an extra late 2nd rounder and/or even a 3rd or 4th rounder. If DT Christian Barmore is available during the 1st round trade down, take him. He's a big, strong and quick DT that can play at either the 1, 3 or 5 tech positions and is formidable inside against the run and very good putting pressure on the QB. Anyone who saw his performances during the college playoffs would know.

If Barmore is taken, secure a top 3 LB or top 3 O-Tackle with that traded down 1st round pick. Use both 2nd round picks on the other positions of need (CB & S). Solidifying the trenches is more important than the pretty positions...in my opinion.

He's been the third DT on NFL after Levi for a while now 66thoverall. Pick 75 would be about right. I sure hope we don't start reaching for players in the first three rounds.

Strong and quick is a good combination. He had 34 reps on the bench at his pro day.
Strengths
  • Tapered chest with dense, muscular frame and no bad weight.
  • Quick and powerful with above-average leverage.
  • Former high school basketball player with capable footwork.
  • Lifts with accurate hands and upward thrust into opponent.
  • Absorbs contact and keeps eyes into backfield.
  • Works with quick-win twitch against single blocks.
  • Play strength to displace block and make a play.
  • Plants his post leg and battles through the double-team.
  • Core strength fuels his balance and keeps him on his feet.
  • Hand slap to cave the edge and find pathway to the pocket.
  • Quality secondary rush effort.

I don’t think they can take a 3T at 44 unless there’s a first round grade on someone. You’d be giving up on Gallimore and Hill.

He’s not starting at RE.

I’d hate it if it’s before 75.
I agree but he might not be there at 75 and they may decide to take him at 44.

100% it's nailed on they choose him at 44 and forego guys like Grant, and Holland for another project....

Like him as a day 3 project but hate him in rounds 2/3.

Undersized with short arms means you’re hoping to hit on an outlier.

His is rated in the 60's, might go higher. I don't like small school, upside picks, but if they love him, they will need to take him on day 2. In my opinion, a future 3T.
