One pick away. Would have immediately been the best FS we’ve have had in a decade. You have all the picks in the world to move up and make sure you get him. Instead we sit. And we watch someone else move up and get him. Glad we held onto that 6th Stevie, I’m sure it’ll be useful

Teague--right with you man right with you...so so so angry today....sometimes Dallas leadership does the most stupid stuff...i wanted Moehrig

The 2 most likely reasons are not what some of you want to here.

1. They didn't know what others teams were going to do. (no one really knows so stop pretending you do)
2. They didn't have him graded as high as the Cowboyszone draft squad. Or the CB was graded higher and with Kazee we needed a CB more than a safety.

We will never get an answer, but I am really interested to know if he was the pick if he made it to 44. If so, they should have traded up.

Joseph off the field and limited starts really scares me. He seems like the guy the team has big expectations for but never really plays to those expectations.

he is so immature....in pros they will purposely push his buttons and watch him go off and get flagged

I agree, and nobody on this board is an NFL scout despite what they may think. My personal opinion only, only time will tell. I will say though that you should get potential starters with top 100 picks and I don't believe the Cowboys did that in the 3rd round.

total agreement

In my opinion when you get to the 3rd round you are just throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks. Sure some great players come in these later rounds but for the most part the bust rate starts getting really high.

Because we got outplayed by the Raiders of all team, that is how bad things have gotten.

Dont trade for Pitts. We need defense. Dallas selected 5 defensive players and ppl are still *****ing. Lame

Another reason other then being outplayed by the Raiders is that we have to keep in mind this is a "Cap Draft" so we can't get players who play good enough to warrant a second contract.

I won’t go that far. JOK is a player without a position. I don’t trust the coaches in Dallas or know how to utilize him. There’s a reason he fell that far.
Joseph is a talent but I am very concerned about his attitude and coachabiliy. Not finishing at two programs are major red flags.

Like Darren Woodson was a player without a position?

As great as Darren Woodson was as a LB, he did not win Butkus Award.

JOK was the BEST linebacker last season.

He will definitely have a role in pass happy modern era where the base defense plays more hybrid players. At ND, he played FS, SS and slot corner - lined up in the slot over 50% of his snaps and he had 7 sacks in less than 15% of his snaps rushing passer. This kid definitely can do it all.

He is in same mold as Derwin James.

JOK would be perfect in Kam Chancellor role in Dan Quinn system.

true or not, this is a silly statement.

In 2020 exactly one pro-bowler, Justin Jefferson, was taken after their pick. And considering Jefferson didn’t deal with an injured QB starter, we don’t know if he’s better than Lamb long term.

In 2019, we didn’t have a first round pick because we traded it for Cooper and I believe 2 pro-bowlers went after our pick. DK Metcalf and a Punter. We made bad picks, but using pro-bowls as a barometer makes no sense.

In 2018 we selected pro bowler Leighton Vander-Esch in the first and missed out on a few pro bowlers mainly in round 3. If pro bowls are what’s important we could have taken DJ Chark in round 2 and Orlando Brown in round 3 (or just taken Brown in round 2) but IMO we missed on Connor Williams not because he’s not a pro bowler but because he’s an average at best player who should be replaced.

2017 was just all sorts of bad. We certainly missed out on top tier talent but to be frank the team would be in a better position today had they just hit on 2-3 guys regardless of making the pro-bowl. At this point our biggest contributors are back up slot CB Jourdan Lewis and special teams guy Noah Brown.

do we not herald the black guy in charge of scouting for dallas?....maybe he does not have a voice in the war room?....but not happy with guys we settle for...maybe coaches who do not watch tape of these players have too much voice in room?...not sure but...that wright pick at #99 last night could have been gotten in 7th rd...2-3 of our picks could have been gotten in rds 5-7...wasted premium picks....if i am wrong i will totally admit it....and to be honest i hope i am dead wrong

Great college production.
Not just Cowboys passed on him. He was passed over by 32 teams multiple times.
I don’t trust our staff to fully utilize talent.

Because we dont value Safety. We also dont value 1T.

That draft showed that if it wasnt clear enough.

Cowboys would take 3 7th Round Corners and 3 Tech Camp Bodies before they draft a Space Eater and a true FS.
