Honestly who's upset with the NT and Safety position

The team reportedly loved Holland, and he was the best true FS in this class. The fact the team just watched him go 8 picks before us when we had 11 picks to work with just dumbfounds me.

All 11 guys aren’t going to make the team. Packaging a couple picks and going up to get the guy that you think could start on the backend - whether that’s Holland, Grant or Moehrig, was the sensible thing to do. Quality over quantity.

Not upset at all

Damontae Kazee is 27 years old. He compiled 199 tackles, 13 pass breakups, 10 interceptions, and five forced fumbles across (34 starts) for the Falcons. Why move up and spend a premium pick on Safety (you don't think is a premium player) especially when you just picked up Kazee for this year? If a safety fell to us and we passed, maybe be upset? Ok but they didn't. Moerhig and Grant were the best of a very weak class. Holland was a PJ at safety, he's a corner.

Bohanna is a true run stuffing 1Tech, one of the better ones in the draft.

This is real life not a PFF mock draft

Arguably our two biggest needs and we didn't address either till round 6. Was a huge miss.

If your ever in the Virginia Beach area. My treat.
Love Virginia Beach, both my girls played a lot of ball in your area. Loved the boardwalk.

I'm with you on the caring part. Whatever happens, happens. I guess age and apathy play a part in it. Will always root but no longer break things when they lose.

One of my very best friends (Eagles fan, I'm sorry) is a bartender over there at some posh establishment and I've been wanting to visit him, as he's visited us several times, but he says the place sucks so I haven't gone.

Now I have more incentive.
I'm not a beach fan, but Virginia Beach is really nice and worth a trip imho. Great boardwalk for a stroll or you can rent bicycles and pedal your way around.

Very relaxing for a high strung curmudgeon like myself.

I know a lot of members on here kept preaching how this could finally be the year these 2 positions would be addressed and of course we got nothing. Yeah, don't consider a 6th rounder in a weak draft a solution either. Who here is still furious over this?

Could be that Joseph is the new FS.

History will teach you that overwhelming majority of players picked after 5th round don’t stick around the league very long. Even fewer makes any impact in their 1st year. There will always be the exceptions and every team will continue to hope they catch lightning in a bottle.

You may not know that the draft used to be 12 rounds until 1993 then reduced to 7 rounds since.
Everyone knows that. So with your opinion why even draft anyone in the 6th round. You’re not even willing to give a guy a chance.

NFL Draft hit rate by Round
Round 1 Hit Rate
  • Round 1: 55%
  • Round 2: 51%
  • Round 3: 38%
  • Round 4: 29%
  • Round 5: 29%
  • Round 6: 19%
  • Round 7: 14%
19% means a log of players make an impact. At 14% the same. Thanks for proving my point.

This draft more than ever they proved they don't care about FS. Moehrig, Holland, Grant were all the board to start day 2. We had the ammo to go and get any of them, instead we watched all them get picked.

I'm ok with the Joseph pick from a talent perspective, we'll see if he stays on a good path off the field, but we had the opportunity to go get a safety instead we blew our third round picks on rotation guys and a guy who probably won't even make the team

Just me, but I get the impression Holland is the only one of the three players they wanted. They showed min pre-draft interest in Grant and I have a hard time believing IF they really wanted Moehrig, he would be a Cowboy. The chance to draft him was right there at min cost, yet they passed on the opportunity and selected Joseph a CB. Keep in mind, Holland can CB or S, Moehrig can not. In other words, I'm guessing Joseph would have still been selected over Moehrig even if he made it to 44. Not sure I'd say the same about Holland though.

Edit........just came across this. Proves my point a bit of the CB being a strong positional target at 44.

thanks!

back when I was in my early 20’s and Dallas would lose a game on Sunday or Monday I would avoid any sports related programming for the whole week because I was so mad. Now I still love Dallas but it’s less important. Still a fan, still support but now I see it as entertainment.

That makes the team. So he's got a 1/5 chance of making the team first then make an impact.

Name the last Cowboy 6th rounder that make an impact in their first year.......Crickets....

Never said won't give the guy a chance. I have realistic expectations. What I don't do is being unreasonably optimistic and expect a 6th rounder to all of a sudden become the savor of our defensive woes.

As long as we stay injury free i like pairing of kazee and donovan wilson at safety. At 1T they beefed up with bohannon who will be the biggest d lineman in the room day 1. I expect him to split time with a woods from the jump
I think Osa will take Woods place. He is a stout DT that doesn't get moved and plays the run very well while bringing some pass rush as well. People see 280 something and say he is small but he can handle centers and guards
