So I know we all want to read about the shiney side of our draft..but there appears to be so.e hiccups too. Remains to see how it all works out.

:hammer:

#1 - Helping the Eagles? Either the Giants or the Eagles were going to get Smith. They are both rivals. Nothing we could do to stop it. Got an extra 3rd round pick and took the guy we were going to draft at 10. This is the first website that I have heard say this was a bad move. To me it was a non-brainer. I would rather see Smith teamed up with a bunch of scrub WRs in Philly than teamed up with Golladay, Sheperd, and Slayton in NY.

#2 - Drafting Josh Ball - This one I could agree with to some extent. Hopefully his issues are behind him and he doesn't have any additional situations happen in regard to his past issues. The issues happened over 3 years ago so hopefully the guy has matured and straightened himself out. I probably would have gone in a different direction with this pick but they must have had him very high on their draft board to take the risk.

#3 - Totally disagree with this one. We don't know how the scouts and coaches had the CBs rated. Supposedly they had him rated very high on the draft board. So should we just fire our scouting department and start choosing players based on how the media has them ranked? Bye Bye Will McClay we are going to use Mel Kiper's draft guide from now on instead of you. Doesn't seem to be working out so well for the Raiders and Mike Mayock. The Raiders don't start drafting better then Mayock will be back on ESPN/NFL Network with Kiper, McShay, and Jeremiah.

The only real issues I had with our draft is the selection of Josh Ball and Nahshon Wright. Ball - I have a daughter about to leave for college so this is a touchy subject for me. I would have definitely gone in a different direction. Nahshon Wright - I have no issue with taking the player but I think we could have gotten him much later in the draft. However, I am not a scout so I could be totally wrong.

1.) I give KJ four years with the Cowboys max. I think either he'll tire of the Cowboys or the Cowboys will tire of him. That doesn't mean he won't be good. But something tells me he doesn't have the personality or discipline to remain with one club. Marcus Peters 2.0.

2.) The Josh Ball situation disturbs me, particularly in this climate. May be our Ritchie Incognito. Be that as it may, a man is innocent until proven guilty - unless you're Zeke Elliott. ;) :(

3.) Either the Giants or the Eagles were going to get Devonta Smith. Jones would get him the ball, and the Giants would be more deadly with him with Barkley back; Hurts won't, and the Eagles don't have an outstanding back. Besides, I think the narrative regarding the Eagles is silly, i.e., let's screw our draft up just so we can screw the Eagles.

The writer is reaching......I had no issue with the draft but I could list 3 better than that.

Its too early to say if Joseph or Ball were mistakes. If they both go on to be solid starters how is that mistake?

And it was a mistake "helping" the Eagles but it would've been the right move to let the Giants get Devonta Smith who already have Sherperd, Golladay and Slayton? SMH.
and lose a 3rd round pick in addition.

Being real here,, being that your are an Eagles Fan, how did you feel about #3

giants would have gotten him anyway, so from your perspective I don’t know why that article thinks it matters so much.

but from the Eagles perspective, this is how I interpreted it:

In the first round we’ve drafted no TE’s, no LBers, no RBs, and just 1 single CB in like 30+ years. Theyre just not Jeffrey Lurie’s value positions. It’s OL, DL, QB if need be, and occasionally WR. The best O and D lineman were still on the board at 10... So because of that I believe if we stayed at 6 we’re still looking at wideout.

Chase went at 5, so he wouldn’t have been available, and we already drafted the guy who plays Waddle’s position in Reagor last year. Two of those doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, so if we stayed at 6 it may have been DeVonta Smith anyway.

Overall we got a free first rounder out of it, and I don’t really care if we trade with Dallas or not. We paid extra in that third to move up (chart says should have been a 4th), but we got our guy and prevented NYG from getting him. I’ll take DeVonta Smith over WR Toney the giants got + CHI’s 2022 first (and I bet the G-Men would too).

Plus what you ended up doing with that third didn’t make me feel too bad about it

actually, trading back when our targets were gone, was the right thing to do, if our target at that point was Parsons...regardless of what the article said, either Giants or Eagles were going to draft Devante Smith. In fact there are stories about Giants being ticked off that eagles traded up to get him. we were going to face Smith either with Eagles or Giants anyway.

The reason we didn't go for Samuel is on the smaller side and may struggle against bigger WRs on the outside. perhaps that was part of the reason. he maybe better suited to slot CB.

I agree on Ball, why draft a guy knowing he has had multiple off field issues...... not a good idea.

1. Making Joseph the top CB
2. Drafting Josh Ball
3. Helping the Eagles get Devonta Smith

Hard to say those were mistakes at this point.

Joseph has the talent. He doesn't have much on-field film and there are the questions about his commitment.
Ball was considered an early-round talent who fell because of domestic violence issues four years earlier.
Either the Eagles were going to get Smith or the Giants were. Frankly, the Eagles have more issues than the Giants at this point so giving them the better player might be the better move in the short term.

Because those issues were practically a lifetime ago for someone his age. Look, I get that we live in an extremely sensitive age concerning DV (and should be concerned about it overall), but just because someone had some serious problems four years ago doesn't mean that he can't turn his life around, especially with some maturity.
