I actually see the reverse of that. I definitely think Parsons is out there day one while I could see them waiting on Joseph for a guy they know like Brown (not that I’d agree with it).

No doubt. And some still thought he might go in round one.

He also comes with a higher bust factor. That’s why he was still there in round 2.

Absolutely. Especially on a defense that set records for ineptitude. No jobs should be secure, and I hope they’re not.
Great point on Brown.

I posted elsewhere recently that I could see how Joseph (and Wright and his confidence) being around may push Brown and/or Lewis to become better players.

As far as job security, I think that was a huge problem in the Garrett era. There was little competition. No fight, no fire......

I got on a whole paragraph of a Garrett rant and deleted it. You are all welcome!

Still mad. I want that decade back.

I think that they feel obligated to give Hurts at least one full season of opportunity. They used a 2nd round pick on him and then traded away Wentz. They have to see what they’ve got.
Just seems like classic throwing good money after bad to me.

Maybe I'm wrong and he'll be a top QB, but I just don't see it. And I like OU so I've watched him plenty.

I did a survey of player rankings before the draft and Parson was the highest-rated defensive player about 70% of the time.
Not really sure why people are surprised he was top of their defensive board.

Also, given their ongoing dialog with (and reassurances from) New York at 10 and the near certainty that Fields was going at 11, I didn't see the trade back from 10 to 12 to be at all risky.
I mean Philly (not NY) moving up to 10 and taking their targeted WR

we made the correct pick at 12. Fixed the linebacker room and maybe even helped the entire team.

I still can't believe they passed on Fields. I was sure that was who they were trading up for.

Hard to believe they think that much of Hurts.

I think it was more that they didn't think Fields was as good as people thought and didn't want to just throw their first round pick at a QB. My guess is the fact they likely will have 3 number one picks next year was a big factor in them not forcing this year's 1st round pick on a QB.

Personally, I was not a fan of Fields at all.

How badly does this defense need a guy to fly around and make plays and be vocal leader type?

I very much hope he embraces that type of leadership role. The defense should be built around him moving ahead.

The Eagles, Football Team, and the Giants but ok.

You literally said this:

The Eagles might have passed on the most quarterbacks because of their love of Wince. I find that funny and ironic.

My response was simply, no, they didn't pass on the most QBs. They passed on one successful QB - Jackson (we have no idea what Fields is). That's it.

They also think if they need a qb that they have the ammo to go after one in 2022.

Eagles 1st
Dolphins 1st
Colts 2nd or 1st depending on Wentz play
Eagles 2nd

They drafted boy scouts under Garrett, where did that get them?

Boy scouts like Trystan Hill? Zeke? Mo Claiborne? randy Gregory? Perhaps you want take this back to "Boy Scout" free agent signings like Pacman Jones or Greg Hardy?

I think there’s a chance that the Cowboys could trade Brown if they got anywhere close to a decent offer, just to save some cap space.

I can’t blame you. So much talent, and so many years wasted, on a guy that simply never was head coaching material.

Yeah, maybe they simply didn't like Fields that much and thought next year would be a better opportunity to get a really high pick.

I'm not some huge Fields fan, but I think he has a better chance than Hurts for sure.

The majority were boy scouts under Garrett and he struggled to coach bad character types throughout his tenture.

Maybe so, but my point is that they owe it to him - and to themselves - to give it at least one season to find out.

Without injury, there's a definite numbers problem at several positions (yet we aren't very good, go figure).

I can see some deals being made.

I'm still holding out hope someone will give us a 3rd for Connor Williams, but it may make full sense to just take the comp pick and keep the depth.

But I think McG is a better player than Williams amd should start.

Garrett wanted to be a no nonsense type of HC and it just rang hollow.

It wasn't imposing in any kind of way, and his wings were clipped by Jerry at all times.

Said the same crap over and over like a robot.

Anyone shocked that guy couldn't command an NFL locker room?

Really one first

People seem to forget that Parsons was a top 5 prospect and best defensive player after his sophomore season. He will remind everyone once the season start.
By nature people gravitate to the newest shiny toy... they forget the one on the top shelf was really nice too. They'll see.

I certainly hope that McGovern gets the opportunity to compete for the job.
