Nope it is called an accident Zeke pays people to take care of his dogs when he is away That is prime responsibility and dog ownership
Well if he hires a moron for that job, then it is still his fault.
Dogs that attack like that have no training, and that is another issue.

Ultimately he is responsible no matter who is watching the dogs.

Sigh.
I don't want to wade into this and I understand all sides.
I just want to say this:
15 years ago I rescued a Pitt mix in Austin.
He was already a year old.
The pound told me he was a Pitt/Pug so I called him my Pig.

He was a broken, abused child and I endlessly loved and trained him.
I knew the risks, but I had no children. I had nothing. My father had just died and my ex-wife had just left me.
I worked at home. I had all the time in the world and the motivation to give him all of my attention.

And I did.

I have a wife now and she has a large family. Although Mug has been a pillar of good, we warn everybody that he has pitt in him, no matter what.
15 years. He's now lost teeth. He has hip dysplasia and he's just tired, but in all those years...
He's never bit anyone. He's never tried to bite anyone.
He's never threatened other dogs.
He's never threatened a human in any way.

I get it. And I know I'm not going to change anyone's minds on this, but...

I love him. He's about to die of old age and he's done nothing wrong to be vilified his entire life because he's... what he is.

Much respect to you all, and much respect to my baby boy, who's been a near perfect boy his entire life (which is more than what many dogs can say).

I say near perfect because he begs too much.

I figure we give this 72 hours to hear the real story not whatever garbage that first comes out.

The first take on almost every story anymore is usually wrong.

You shouldn't have to explain this or justify owning a pit bull. They're great dogs!! I've been around many. My friend had a pit bull who passed away about 10 years ago and that dog was truly amazing, friendly, loving, great with kids.. everything you could ask for in a pet. 52 years and I've been around many pets and that dog was easily one of my favorites. Some people hear the breed name (even a mix) and automatically think cold blooded killer.

So sorry you're dog is nearing the end. It just sucks. There's no way to sugar coat it. You wish they had more time. 15 years and that's high end, doesn't seem fair!!

I'm just saying I get it.
I get it.
But my boy.
6 more months and it will be 16 years.
Absolute pillar of this family. I will cry so many tears when he leaves us.

You guys will know. I'll probably start a thread in the Off Topic Forum.
@Ranching and a few others know I've been lamenting over my Mummy Meat of a boy for a minute.

Zeke's house has plenty of fencing.. But dogs can dig like you wouldn't believe. Not to mention these are Rots which are strong as hell and more than capable of busting through a gate if they all work together.

If you subscribe to nextdoor.com for your area then you read a half dozen posts about dogs getting loose every day. It happens.. If the people legitimately got hurt by the dogs I feel bad for them. I'm sure they will be well compensated for their injuries.. Unless an investigation finds that they were the ones who let the dogs out to begin with.. in which case I hope they go to jail.
Yup. I agree. I live in the country and still have a fence, and my dog finds a way to venture off either by digging or someone leaving a gate open. I own a Great Pyrenees, which is a hard headed dog to begin with lol...takes a full time owner to be there or it doesnt work and begins to be a headache. I imagine its the same with Rots.

True statement. Doesn't matter who it is, when any person chooses to keep a dog that is known to be dangerous, he is responsible for that decision and the actions of that dog. He can't pass the blame off on the dog, the maid, or the pool cleaner. It's his dog, his decision, and his responsibility, period.

Yep. Can't argue this. I always like to keep dogs with a good temperament. This way the only thing I have to worry about if my dog gets loose is for his own safety. His fat butt is just going to look for a pack of kids to play with.

I've heard this nonsense my entire life from people who just don't know better. My father trained dogs for many years, first for the K-9 Corps, then privately. He taught us how to handle dogs when we were very young, and at 60, the past two years are the first time in my life that I've only had one dog in the house.

Hard to be a better dog owner than me. I won't punch down the list of many of the extraordinary things I've done for my dogs, but I will tell you about one dog I had.

I got GG as a puppy of about 6 weeks. She was some type of mixed breed, but there was some Rottweiller in there and possibly some GS. At 80#, she was a big, strong girl. No dog that I've ever owned has ever been struck by a human or mistreated in any way, and I've taken in dogs that have clearly been abused. GG was not one of them. She did, however, have a screw loose. She tried to bite a person the first time at ~4 months old, and not the 'I'm a 4 month old stubborn dog' kind of biting, but the going after someone until she had to be restrained type of attack. This behavior would continue until I finally lost the old girl at 11. She was one of my favorite dogs and was fiercely loyal to me and tolerated other family members well, but she had to be kept away from other humans and all other dogs except for one for her last 8 years, and when a family member made a mistake and didn't secure her properly in the area of the home where she was kept, she killed a 60# Husky. She was 9 and incredibly lazy when that happened, but not too lazy to take out Bailey.

I spent many, many hours working with GG on her behavioral issues. She was very well trained re: obedience and was quite bright, but again, loose screw. I could put her in a harness along with the other big dogs and have them pull me on Land Rollers along a 3 mile loop in an effort to burn off her excess energy and aggression, and that was effective to a degree, but at the end of the day, she was what most would consider a 'bad dog'.

You're free to keep thinking that there are no 'bad dogs', but like people, there are some animals that just can't be socialized regardless of how hard one tries. Are they really 'bad dogs'? WIthin the context of being unable to be around other people or animals without biting, then yes, there are plenty of 'bad dogs'. Was GG a 'bad dog'? Not to me, but if she ever got loose, there was trouble.

Had a half pitt/half lab the same way. Perfect around me. But you never knew what/who would set him off.

Yup. I love dogs and I've had numerous dogs down through the years including 2 Labradors, and never had to worry about any of my dogs attacking someone because I had no need nor desire to keep a dangerous dog.
I think some people like dangerous dogs because they think that tough dangerous dog says something about themselves.
Actually it probably does, just not what they think it does.

The other night I'd just got out of the shower and my dog went off. I look out the window and some some guy is fumbling with a harness while his dog is staying just out of reach.
I watched for a few laughing and thought I'd go help this young fellow out.

So I go out, notice its a pit and the thought crossed my mind, "Do I really want to do this?"
But I calmly went on and met the young guy and talked to the dog. Then Luke, another neighborhood dog, came up and I petted him on the head.
And without realizing it, I reached out to the pitt and petted her on the head.
She turned around, sat down between my legs, with her eyes on her owner all the while.

I let the owner fumble a few minutes and talked to him. Then showed him to lay the harness on the ground, put her paws in the opening and pull it up and snap it.

Surprising how gentle and compliant she was for a "cold blood killer" breed.

his dogs are not him, dogs getting out because someone left a door or gate open doesnt need news story saying Zekes intoruble..it happens

Zeke haters cant wait for this stuff yet they want to out what his dogs did on him as if he went out and assaulted someone..

Uh oh lock him up his dogs nipped someone.

obviously he needs to move out to the country with three larger size escape artist dogs that one has bitten , hes not getting rid of his dogs as most thinks dogs are family but living in gated normal community might not be the answer..

get some land out bit further out of town, let them rome..

odd im betting if a fans dog bit someone it doesnt make the news, not like someone was seriously hurt or died.. these dudes entertainers and sports stirs are under microscope and tools like fans here that need to find way to make it a big story to further hat eon zeke, you are idiots..

this is NON STORY for 90% of the population on earth, wuldnt be newsworthy story or public report AT ALL.

Yet you all are so bored with your own mundane lives, this becomes big deal so you can bante raround and seem imortant..

you are NOT..
Quit making excuses for Zeke. You sound foolish. Unless you have concrete evidence that the dog nanny left the gate open, quit making excuses for bad dog owners. Ultimately, in the eyes of the law, the dog owner in fully and solely responsible for the actions of said bad tempered dogs.

I look at the zeke haters as having no cred at all in anything to do with him.

Responsibility. Sure. Just like the captain of a ship is ultimately responsible even if a very competent officer screws up.

So UNLESS you have inside knowledge that the people zeke employed are indeed incompetent, SHUT UP.

I agree. Those making excuses for Zeke should ultimately shut up, because in a court of law, Zeke would be found ultimately responsible for the actions of his killer dogs.
