Has any player ever complained about practicing in Oxnard?

I would never complain about an all-expense paid business trip for a couple weeks to Oxnard, CA in July/August.

In fact, I would scratch and claw for it. Beats Ft Polk or Augusta, Ga in July.

The only thing the players don't like is having to be in the "dorms" every night when so much fun stuff is within an hour or so drive. L.A., the beaches, the nightlife.. If one is of a mind to party then being locked down in Oxnard would kinda suck.. Still.. if you have your head on straight you focus on football.

Stealers practice in St Vincent, Pa. I think near Latrobe if memory serves me right. They get the dorms there. Not much there. Never been to Oxnard, but I would say Oxnard is better than Latrobe.

I think the Eagles stay in Philly at a nearby college.

The main reason they hold camp in Oxnard is the cooler weather. It’s pretty obvious why they go there.

Curious enough to ask but not enough to find out on my own.....

What do the Texans do for camp?

They hold camp down the street from NRG stadium. Have an outdoor field and a doomed covered field. Strangely it is right across the street for Harris County CPS (Child Protective Service)

Sorry I'm not from Texas, but I hear everything is BIGGER there. Is there not a location we can hold camp at, instead of having it way out in California??

I'm sure there's a field we can use nearby, what's the point?? Give me your thoughts
It's about the weather and promoting the brand to a different market. The Cowboys were doing training camp in California long before Jerry was in the picture. They have a history in Cali, the fans there love them. You'll do good to make note of this fact when the Cowboys travel to SoFi Stadium to play the Chargers, week 2. It will be like another home game for the Cowboys.

Besides weather, there's a big Cowboys fan base out there which helps keep the interest of fans in the state.

Well, now that I think of it....why can't the team accomplish the same in Frisco inside as they do in Cali?

Ahhhh....must be about the money.

And Miami has training camp in Florida while the Raiders hold training camp in Henderson Nevada. The Cowboys training in a cooler location may be why they are a soft team.

they usually stay at a residence inn by marriott. not a dorm by any stretch of the imagination....i think that's why dorm is in quotes...

Players barely practice these days inside air conditioned practice fields.

Those Jimmy days at St. Edwards are over forever.

They need to change the name from Training Camp to Training Walk-through.

I'm thinking, "Training Work-Shop".

Get real. The players complain about an all expense paid trip, where they actually also got paid, to play in the Pro Bowl in Honolulu.

Players are going to complain about practices no matter where they are. Just how it goes.

I think I remember Stealer players complaining about being in dorms. May have been years ago. :)
I thought some of the vets were getting apartments nearby. I forget though.

Jr. High, High School and College Texas football players can handle the Texas heat, but the Dallas Cowboys can't?

No wonder they haven't won anything in 25 years.

Young people handle Texas heat better than older people.. Is this news to you? I had no trouble doing two a days in Florida, one in full pads in the mid afternoon when I was in junior high and high school. By the time I was 30 I couldn't finish one workout in that heat. Drive by any playground in any town in the South in the summertime and you will find no shortage of little kids out there having a great time doing active stuff.. What you won't find is a ton of people over 25 doing anything except looking for shade..
