Yet we saw fewer injuries. The 16 now 17 game season is a marathon. Being in top condition helps avoid injuries. I don't think anyone is suggesting putting them through the junction boy training camp but yes I think it would toughen this team up.

I am not sure we actually saw fewer injuries or if guys just played through more injuries. I also attribute the uptick in injuries to the fact that they don't prepare their bodies to play football anymore. The decrease in contact and padded practices has meant guys don't know how to hit or be hit. They don't know how to fall so as not to allow their joints to get caught in bad positions. If you jog all week there is no way you can just ramp it up to sprinting on Sunday.

Spoken by a man who has never experienced a Texas summer.

I'd rather my team focus on football in camp rather than not dying of heat stroke.

I live in the north east I know what hot is, I went to a game 2 years ago, they'll be fine!!! Sucks you don't know that college kids and high school kids have to do this

The military cares very much about the heat conditions its personnel is exposed to. They even have regulations governing these things. Despite your suggestion, being "forced" to run in the heat at certain temperatures is strictly forbidden. That's how people die. The military does PT in the morning or night when it is cooler. If you find yourself being forced to run in the heat of the day, someone is risking a court-martial.

I don't disagree but I think it is something this team needs. You want to remove the country club atmosphere work out in the Texas Sun on 2 a days, you will find out a lot about your team and they guys you can depend on.

NORTHeast? You don't know what hot is! Try playing outside under the Arizona sun in August. It's impossible. There is a reason the Cardinals play in an air-conditioned stadium.

I'm sure today's military is like that. Not when I was in. Just like full metal jacket except you didn't get slapped around. Everything has become softer.

No, 85-89. It was quite hot in south carolina from june to sept and they did not care. It was also much easier than what earlier generations went thru. Just the way it is.

LOL, I'm sure you are remembering it exactly as you are saying but child please stop lying. I was in the military those years as well and the regulations were there too. You worked up a sweat, god bless you. Thank you for your service. Stop lying. :lmao:

Sorry I'm not from Texas, but I hear everything is BIGGER there. Is there not a location we can hold camp at, instead of having it way out in California??

I'm sure there's a field we can use nearby, what's the point?? Give me your thoughts
I work in Oxnard and I'm from the 805 and just cause it's not Texas it dosemt mean it's not big out here. The cowboys are a huge deal out here in California.

Yeah I've never been in Texas in the summer but I did "enjoy" a couple of weeks in Louisiana in July. I've never experienced humidity like that in my life.

Military heat flag conditions explained | HPRC (hprc-online.org)

Have a good read and adjust your memory accordingly. :)

I have to say I am somewhat surprised the military had already made the turn as early as the mid 80's. Lord knows when I was high school in the 70's (class of '78) they did not hesitate to send us out in the Florida 95 degree heat with 98% relative humidity and run us till we puked. Guys puked, cramped, all manner of maladies but thank the Lord nobody died and I don't think I ever even saw anyone pass out from the heat. But then we had all grown up in that climate. We had been kicked out of the house to "get outta my face and go play!" since we 4-5 years old. When we weren't doing football training camp were doing AAU Track and Field. I didn't even know it was POSSIBLE for anyone to actually die from heat until that kid died one summer in the late 70's or early 80's. That was when things started to change I guess.
