I was hoping from the injury the rehab process would improve his foot quickness. That is his biggest weakness in the pocket and moving around in it-He has been a bit of a lead foot.

Quickness is not his strongsuit

His strong suit is just leading the offense that’s one of the best in the NFL.

is more agile than he's ever been. Was reported on Cowboys Break. May 26th. Also some video of him jumping up and down on one leg at a time. Looked like he was on springs. I was shocked.

I’m sure Dak will have his best year, but...

“best shape of my life!” Is the most overused, irrelevant off-season topic we keep hearing over and over and over. Every single year should be your best shape, as you’ve been working toward it a year longer than you did before
When I hear "best shape of my life" I interpret that as not working as hard as you could in the past.

Of course you would. You wouldn't understand that coming of injuries players have to rehab. Rehab involved doing exercises that they've never done before. These exercises strengthens areas that haven't gotten the attention in the past therefore making them better than ever in many cases.

It's always weird when things like this are said AFTER a season ending injury.

Are you saying that while you were healing with limitations on what you can do you was somehow getting into better shape then when you was perfectly healthy with no limitations on what you can do? Who do these guys think they're fooling when they say this stuff? Apparently, it works though.

Yup. Or nearing the end of their careers. Like, why weren't you in the best shape of your life in the prime of your career?

When you rehab you're trying to get the injured part of your body usable again just like before the injury. There are limitations on what you can and cannot do during rehab. Therefore, it's almost impossible, unless you've been extremely lazy in the past, to come back in better shape immediately after an injury then what you was before the injury.

That's common sense.

Rockport doesn't use common sense. He views everything through the lens of whether he believes it to be positive or negative and then reacts because he doesn't have control of his emotions.

What about guys who have offseason surgery that keeps them from working out at the same level? Or guys whose wives have babies during the offseason and they get to learn what it's like to sleep in 2-3 hour shifts while the baby acclimates to life outside the womb? There are plenty of reasons guys CAN'T be in the best shape during the offseason. So while it may be a cliche, there have been plenty of guys who have stated that they "still have a ways to go" and are "learning to trust the {insert injured body part here}" .. Some guys give cliches.. some guys give honest answers.. If you listen to enough of them you will hear the difference.

on the surface yes, I am not arguing, but it also depends on the nature of the injury and severity. modern sports medicine has advanced far. didn't peterson have ACL injury, only to come back in less than year and rush for 1500? or something like that.....and sometimes players, feel better when rehabbing, because its all they do and the rehab is focused on strengthening, stretching and making them stronger. something they may not focus on as much if not rehabbing.

leave it to you and I didn't expect anything less. btw, Brady said the same thing after his Knee injury. I guess brady was lazy too prior to his injury.

No, that's bull****. Is there a Doctor in the house? Please explain to this troll how he's wrong.

I understand that completely. I expect Dak to be fine physically, but the whole "best shape of my life" thing is just talk I feel like. There is no way he is in better shape right now then he was before the injury. He's just not been able to work as hard since this injury as he would have if he was healthy. He is not lazy, so he's going to be in good shape regardless. That's why I believe this is just a cliché thing, because Dak seems to always want to say the things that he believes people want to hear.

No he rushed for almost 2100. You hit the nail on the head when you mention that rehab works them differently than regular workouts. One of the focuses of rehab is typically to make the muscles around the injured body part STRONGER than they were before so that they can better support and protect the injured part. I also think that as guys grow and mature they learn how to take better care of themselves so yes they CAN continue to get into the "best shape of their lives" well into their careers. But people mistake that statement for some sort of declaration that they won't get hurt. Guys can be in great physical shape but there is nothing they can do to change the fact that a 35 year old body is more susceptible to injury than a 25 year old body and takes longer to recover.
