UFO’s? Yes, but why?

Other than experimentation or just anthropological study, the current behavior (if they're aliens) doesn't make much sense. Why expend vast amounts of resources and energy travel dozens to thousands of light years and just troll people with fleeting videos and pics?

If it was conquest, they'd have done it already and there's no way we could stop it. If it was for "friendship" it's hard to make friends when you're not actually appearing and communicating.

People may say they are getting us use to the idea slowly to prevent panic, but sightings have been around for hundreds of years. It doesn't really hold up.

If they wanted our resources, they could just take it. They'd have to be insanely ahead of us in tech to be able to traverse the stars and could easily just drop asteroids on us. Soooo, if they're real and here, I think it must be for something like experimentation, study, or research or some combo.

This assumes they have to expend vast amounts of resources. If we're gonna subscribe to the alien package, we may as well go all-in and assume that whatever means of travel they are using is far faster and magnitudes more efficient than anything we are using.

Good point. For all we know it’s no more difficult than it is for us to go to 711 and grab a slurpee

I think most people believe that with the billions and billions of planets out there that some of them are most certainly inhabited by intelligent life. And that some of them have traveled to other galaxies and planets Earth being one of them. They’ve been visiting Earth for quite some time. The question I have is what is their intention? Why do they not try a new make contact?

Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe the aliens are haters.

I mean, to be fair, we are asking for attention. Between sending out gold-plated records, our radio signals, and all of our techno signatures of the planet (CO2, light pollution, orbiting satellites etc.) we are quite a beacon in space. Sure, our beacon may be the equivalent of looking for a guy in the ocean holding a flashlight, but, who knows what is out there that has the technology to hone in on that. Or maybe even catch the attention of a passerby?

Question is, if we haven't been found already, do we want to be found?

An alien race with the technology to traverse space may have mentally evolved to the point of understanding and peace............or.............maybe they are hostile and looking to claim another corner of the universe? That is a risk for raising our metaphorical hand.

As I mentioned earlier, anyone who may have seen us, would have to be within about 120 light years, whether that's where they live or they're just passing by.

I agree that drawing attention to ourselves is a risk. If any alien race were anything like us, their first order of business would be to make the planet suit their needs, even if it means putting us in camps or reservations...or worse.

They might be of the opinion that their survival is more important than ours and peace or not why take the chances that WE will learn to be peaceful? Kill us, take our resources and planet and don't have to worry.

Just look at what we do to each other. There isn't a chance in hell that making contact wouldn't result in war at some point. That's what we do, and what we've always done through the history of mankind.

What if aliens lived just inside the super heated portion of our atmosphere in cloaked cities or ships?

What if our arrival here is what killed the dinosaurs? We were the uncontrollable animals on another planet, so they sent us here to get rid of us. The first flight crashed and killed all the dinosaurs. They waited awhile then sent other ships. That would mean we are someone else's garbage.

The particles in the thermosphere are hot, but there are so few of them that the thermosphere can't really transfer heat...but if it could, why would that be a good hiding spot?

Energy from where? You could get more energy from the sun than you could from the exosphere. In fact, with the technology they'd have, they could probably harness energy from the magnetosphere.
The exosphere and the magnetosphere are two good sources of energy. The exosphere is a constant 2,000 degrees. I'm sure the magnetosphere is even hotter than that, since some think it's impossible for mankind to cross it. So either/or would be good enough and close enough to still live off our resources.
