First we have Ben Roethlisberger, who has taken a pay cut because he wants his team to be able to sign top talent. And it was his idea.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...rder-help-pittsburgh-steelers-sign-top-talent

In Dallas we have Mr. Dak who refused to sign for anything less than the 2nd highest contract in NFL history, a greedy move on his part that clearly hampers the teams ability to bring in top talent. And all this after having accomplished nothing in his short career.

So you tell me - which QB wants to win and which QB is more interested in the size of his bank account?

Let the flaming begin......

Give me a break. Ben has already been paid a lot. Dak has been playing for peanuts. Why would Dak take a pay cut when Coop, Zeke, and the Oline all make a ton?

He’s doing what every other player in this league should do and that’s getting his.

This thread was made just for the haters. Another one I should say.

Ben already made his $$$ and his SB. At this point he can do something like this, as same for Tom Brady with a wife that makes more than any football player. They can do this.
The is Dak's 1st big contract. We have such doofus fans.

Ben is at the end of the line and signed a 1 year deal to remain in Pitts. Trying to make an this argument is a joke.

Ha. Yeah, awful comparison.

I've been struggling to figure out why some of you folks get so bent out of shape over certain things, but I'm now beginning to see why.

Dak is young and Ben is old.

I believe both guys want to win, but Dak has age on his side while Big Ben is at the end of the road looking to hang on for as long as possible.

you are comparing apples to oranges to manufacture an argument.

Ben is 39 years old, only has a few more years to play, and has already made boatloads of money.

Ben wasn't offering discounts when he was 27 and before he got his first big contract.

He wasn't even offering discounts at 37. He was among the highest paid in the NFL at that point, 2nd only to Russell Wilson.

well as much as I would like to jump on the bash Dak greedy bandwagon - Ben has made a ton of money over his career

Dak was getting paid peanuts for his rookie deal in NFL terms of starting QB money - maybe, just maybe Dak will see the light come his next contract in 3 years

As of right now he is getting his and after Cowboys over paid J. Smith, Zeke, DLaw why should he take a pay cut. If any of those guys should be paid it should be Dak

No one has said Dak should have taken a pay cut, but he certainly didn't need to demand the 2nd highest contract in NFL history either. He still could have received a significant contract that would have given the team a little more wiggle room, but no, he intended from the beginning to take Jerry out to the woodshed. A true individual who only thinks of himself. Leaders, real leaders, don't do that.

Roethlisberger didn’t take a pay cut to save the team money, he took a pay cut because he was going to get released. So your post is not true at all as usual.

And Ben didn't need to have the 2nd highest contract 2 years ago either, but he did.

That's how contract negotiations go - players and their agents try to get what they can, and teams try to hold it down as much as they can.

Pretending that Ben giving a discount at 39 years old is the situation we should see with Dak at 27 years old and before he has gotten his first big contract is laughable. You are comparing apples to a frying pan - not remotely the same thing.

Why don't you ask this question - how many players gave big discounts when negotiating their first big contract? That's the apples to apples question. Did Ben? Brady? Brees? Rodgers? Who are all these winners that willing gave up a ton of money when negotiating their first big contract?

Dak like any 1st time FA QB got paid, I take Wilson in seattle is not a leader? or Brees when he was top paid? how about Rodgers? the list can go on and on. Dak is no more or less greedy than any player who hits FA 1st time around. That is the contract that they get paid. Dak wanting top money makes him no less of a leader. As I have said many times within 2 years Dak contract will not be one of the highest as other QB hit FA and teams will do what they have to, to be able to retain them.

Frankly with Dak contract I think will be very manageable when you look at upcoming FA we have to deal with Next year FA Gallup and LVE the following year Pollard, Jarwin, Hill and Donovan Wilson. Many other top key players for Dallas are already under longer term contracts and much of the defense is young.
