This could be a good teaching tool or Quinn and the Cowboys are crazy.

The experts rate him as a terrible pick and has a grade to barely make a practice squad.

7th round to PFA. From what I heard in early camp he was able to hold his own and had several splash plays.

I know time will tell obviously. To an average fan this makes no sense.

This would be really cool if we out smarted the cat. If not i'm starting to question all these "Long arm" players and all the need for "Tall " CB/S.

I don't know what to make of Wright. Too early to tell. OTAs and rookie camps don't mean much. We really need to wait until training camp and preseason games to see if he has anything.

But, sometimes the experts get it wrong about players. Most of the time they are right though.

@MWH1967 If I remember correctly, Jerry was panned for taking some OL from Sonoma State in the second round. The internet was in its infancy back in 1994 so the ridicule was limited to the talking head experts.

Can’t remember who said it (maybe Belichick) that there isn’t much difference in talent for players taken in rounds 3-7. Development depends on work ethic, practice reps, and opportunity. Hard to show much if one only gets 20 3rd string reps each practice and some second half preseason vanilla reps.

Everybody seems to question our 3rd round selections. I think they were working off of a different script this year. We'll have to wait to see how it all pans out.

So, what you are saying is after about 65 there are just a bunch of guys that can play. Where someone puts them is just like belly buttons? :)

I think Merton Hanks was 6'3". He was the last Tall CB I remember. Hated the "Chicken neck" dance. I think his neck was a foot Tall.

I guess … but the belly button reference is throwing me for a loop. Never heard that one before. :)

Where is Risen, he is our resident expert on CB's........

Its sounds like Quinn wanted this guy, I'm excited to see what he can do with this defense this year.

Once the pads come on for real, we will have a better idea of what we have with him.

our own Goodwin is 6-3, Richard Sherman and Kevin King are 6-4. There are a lot more than there used to be for sure.

If there was ever a year when opinions on draftees was going to vary, it's this last year. Bunch of kids didn't play. No combine. No in-person contacts. Just a wild year all around. So, I'm not surprised different kids got drafted other than what the media heads were preaching.

That said, we are going to find out soon how well our scouting department did their homework. More than any time in recent history, our talent evaluation department is being relied on.

For those too young to remember, it wasn't just Landry that made us great in the early days. We weren't just innovators on the field. We were innovators in the talent evaluation department. We scoured the country and looked at players other teams completely missed.

Doesn't matter what "experts" say now...Wright is on the team competing for a starting CB role. Early reports have been good let's hope Nah continues to play well when the pads are on.

Diggs 6'2 and Wright 6'4 starting would be very Seattle-ish.

Bossman would like a word....

Sometimes NFL teams have very different rankings on players than media scouts. Good example is Michael Mitchell. The media lambasted the Radiers for taking Mitchell in the 2nd when most scouts had a 7th round grade on him. Bears had targeted him, and traded out immediately after he was picked
