Wow. The kid has a rough 1st outing in a close loss on the road vs a division rival with a decent defense.

Yes. For sure he is trash.

Imagine what undrafted Romo would have done newly unboxed with less than one normal Rookie TC.

400+ and 3or 4 Tuds I bet, right?

Yah, he might have. Romo was the bomb and I am willing to bet he looked a hell of a lot better than Denucci did. Dak looked great right out of the box. Most of them do when they are really talented.

Why waste time going down that short road in the past? Are you mad, bro?

About what? If I got mad every time someone disagreed with me, I'd stay mad.

I actually find it kind of comical when fans give up on players so fast or jump to conclusions about them.

I don't know. Romo himself admitted that his mechanics were awful his first year and needed a lot of work. Obviously, he showed reason to keep him as a rookie, while I'm not sure DiNucci did. But the biggest question is whether DiNucci is going to have the same kind of work ethic it took for Romo to go from a small-school kid with bad mechanics to a franchise quarterback. DiNucci's ceiling might not be that high no matter what he does, but I think it's good to hear that he's working on improving himself as a player. We might at least get a decent backup out of him eventually.

I'm more than happy to entertain you in that way. But it's funny you say it that way. I've not given up on any of the young players on this roster but you jumping to that conclusion so fast shows how you don't play by the same rules you apply to everyone else.

I am looking for the article but can't find it right now. I think it was by Spagnola on 1st game for all Cowboy QBs. It shows how they did in their first start. It was a real eye opener. Maybe someone can find it.

He can "close the gap" in the backup competition because "the gap" was huge. Still doesn't mean he is close to getting that job.
I have him ranked as the # 1 candidate for the backup job

Except Romo. He barely made the team. Then, rode the bench for 3 years before his 1st start. Exactly how uninformed are you?

It's meant to be sunshine blown up your arse when it's really only smoke and mirrors. He has NO chance this season of being the backup QB unless Garrett gets injured. The Nooch is needed on the PS where he can continue to develop.
How do you know he doesn’t have a chance to be the backup? Are you a QB coach? Have you seen his every practice? Have you watched how he acts in th e QB meetings? No you haven’t. All you’ve seen is his one horrific start when he stunk up the place. A start when the entire offensive line was playing 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers. A start when he played behind the worst defense in Dallas Cowboys history. I have no clue if he’s going to win the backup QB slot but I’m willing to give him a chance and not quit so easily on a player like you seem to do.

I seem to remember a kid named Aikman getting blasted by the Reggie White and company and looking like a pure bust at the QB position. Instead of dismissing Ben after one horrible game we should at least have a bit more patience. Even though some of you hate on Big Mike McCarthy, he is a pretty good QB evaluator and knows his stuff.
I'm all for Nuc being given a chance.....but let's not put Nuc in any comparison to Troy Aikman......none.

I think I specifically said jumping to conclusions about young players. There are plenty of members here who have been around long enough that it's reasonable to draw some conclusions about them.

You ask questions and answer them for me too. It's presumptuous of you to do. It shows you have no interest in a conversation. You just want to spew your own poison and shut out civil discourse. We don't all operate at the same speed of deductive reasoning. We don't all figure things out at the same pace. Your error is when you encounter someone at a faster pace than yourself, rather than give them the benefit of a doubt, you attack them because you haven't yet figured out what they already know. You repeat this behavior frequently. When are you going to figure it out you just take longer to figure things out? There is one thing you said there that I agree with and you should have just stopped there. It's when you said this...

I have no clue if he’s going to win the backup QB slot.
