Hey, no need to get feathers ruffled. Just pointing out the crisp irony.

Exactly what "irony" is that? Again, Hill is the guy responsible for exactly where Hill is. Not any internet "naysayers".

I hope you're right. The effort level is certainly there on film. I think he'd make a solid backup to Lawrence.
I feel pretty strongly that he’ll win the backup job behind DLaw.

The only thing that worries me is that he’s nursing a little bit of a hamstring strain. Something like that can derail a rookie season.

Did you miss the intro to my post? You downplayed a past positive article on Hill by @Hawkeye0202 because it was based on an "offseason, camp puff quote" that was "not any actual reflection of on-field game performance" yet are in a thread where you are "happy to read good news" on Gallimore, which is .... wait for it ..... based on an offseason , camp puff quote from McCarthy that is no actual reflection of his on-field game performance.

Like I said, I get it. No one wants to reverse course on Hill to keep up their bust narrative but I hope he busts out and makes people look like tools.

Seriously? 'Stash' the guy and get nothing out of him for yet another year? And then hope that he actually does something just in time to be a free agent? No thanks, I'll just cut him and chalk it up as yet another wasted Marinelli draft pick.

Yeeh, Seriously if that knee is that bothersome and slow to recover now, he won’t get a serious chance at reps and camp time/preseason, not only will
he have the recovery time to prove and earn his roster spot, without the preparation he also won’t be much good at the start of the season,
- and let’s not forget he’s up against the numbers game at DT.

Unlike you, I’m not yet convince that Hill cannot play.
But early on it’s been a set of unfortunate circumstances., which now points to the same setback that wiped out the remaining ’20 year.
I’d like to see him fully healthy in a full 16 game season and a clear shot at a role on this team before getting rid of him altogether.

If Randy Gregory can hang around after 5 years without a bust label on him, Hill oughta get a crack at 3 considering where they were both drafted.

I am expecting great things out of Gallimore with a full training camp and last year under his belt. Along with better coaching and some better help from a stronger DL.
He does have the proper mindset to make this big jump. Gotta hope for the best here.

Take note that it was an offseason, camp puff quote from the optimism of Stephen Jones and not any actual reflection of on-field game performance.

Are you familiar with Voch Lombardi on YouTube? He did a film breakdown of all the games Hill played in last year and he actually was much better than ppl were giving him credit for

I guess you failed to actually read the Gallimore article huh? The one that included on-field, actual game footage of Gallimore playing well? Otherwise, there would be no “irony” for you.

Like I said, I get it. No one wants to reverse course on Hill to keep up their bust narrative but I hope he busts out and makes people look like tools.

Sure, get mad at the critics, not the bust that gives them reason for criticism.

Not me. I’d cut bait first.

Yes, that footage was from last season. McCarthy's quote (and this thread's title) was based on Gallimore's offseason work ... in the weight room and classroom, not on the field of play. The same sort of stuff you brushed off as part of Hill's press clippings that weren't about what took place on the field of play.

I'd spin it this way too if I were you but only if it was less obvious, lol.

Anyone care to compare Gallimore to 1st round picks Derrick Brown and Kinlaw?

Gallimore is right up there with those two.
Didnt follow Kinlaw much in SF this year, but Brown is definitely the better player. Not a knock on Gallimore, because Brown is a very versatile and effective DT. Only two sacks, but 12 QB's hits to Gallimore's 4. Brown can also in any gap along the interior and create pressure. Long term, I think Gallimore can be a better finisher than Brown. When I watched Brown ahead of the 2020 draft, that was my big question with him. He can definitely be a dynamic pressure player, but is going to be a finisher? Or a guy that gets a lot of pressures but like 5-6 sacks

  • JONATHAN ALLENDL, WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM

Washington re-signed DT Jonathan Allen to a four-year, $72 million contract extension.
The deal includes a $30 million signing bonus. The No. 17 overall pick of the 2017 draft, Allen has registered 16 sacks over the past three seasons, being locked up mere hours ahead of training camp. A multiple-time team captain and nominee among Washington's roster for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, the 26-year-old has clearly made a significant impact both on and off the field. His $18 million annually is in line with the rest of the league's top interior players and will keep him in Washington through the 2024 season.

Allen is what Parcells thought he was getting when he drafted Spears in 2005. Powerful and athletic 5tech DE, and DT in a 4 man alignment.

Yea I remember Spears saying they asked him to do things he never did in college.

I'm happy to read good news about Gallimore, and that video against the Steelers was quite impressive. But I don't even expect Hill to make this team. I'm looking for contributions from Odighizuwa, Gholston, and Bohanna.

Hill will make the team. We're still at the "warm body" phase for our DT depth. Hill is young, cheap, and we own him next year.
