Image: Playoff Wins Since 2000 For Every Team

One good thing can be taken from this, in my opinion.

All of the Cowboys fans right now are REAL Cowboys fans. In the 1990's we had tons of bandwagon jumpers who abandoned the team once they lost in the playoffs in 1996 and probably never came back. Let's all give ourselves a pat on the back right now. Many of us have suffered for years, but if we do see Super Bowl title number six, that will make it all the sweeter.

I just wish they'd hurry up. I was in high school the last time Dallas won it all. I just turned 43 last month.
The summer before the 1995 season, I went to Washington D.C. to witness the Korean War Memorial Dedication. (Dad served in that conflict).
A couple of days before the ceremony, I was grooming in front of the hotel mirror - and discovered a single gray hair on top of my scalp.
Fast forward to now -- my gray chin stubble appears 24 hours after a razor\trimmer shave. (Count my blessings - no body aches or pains.)

Nav thinks Jerry isn't really the GM. That he's just a figurehead GM who likes to go on camera and act like the GM.

The reality is Jerry (and Stephen) basically does all the work of a normal GM.............. and that's likely one of the biggest problems with this franchise.
No, Jerry delegates and has those around him give him the info, then he makes the call. But he doesn’t do all the detail work a normal gm does. A GM spends every hour analyzing players around the league, college, his players.

Aren’t you the one that wants to cut our top 7 qb and rebuild?

Genius plan. That would certainly bring more wins. Lol

You were also crying like a baby when Garrett was fired.

Andy dalton at qb and Garrett as HC. Yah, winning formula!!!

No I would’ve drafted one of the top 4 QBs in this class because QBs are becoming easier to find.

It looks like the Chiefs had 2 wins the year before they won the Super Bowl.

Credit? I give him little credit. He's the biggest reason this team has been a bottom third of the league team since 2020. He's the one constant throughout the entire 20 years. Players have changed. Head coaches have changed. Assistants have changed. Scouts have changed. The one constant? Jerry the GM who has picked all them.

If anything, I'd love for him to fire himself (and thinking he can just hand it off to his son) and just hire a separate GM. He'll never do that, nor will his son when he finally gets all the power.
Agreed.

How many hours a day do you think Jerry spends watching film? Over under 5 minutes?

he is the worst GM in football.
I was shocked to see that anybody actually thinks he breaks down film like a real GM.

Sad.

see we're not at the bottom happy days!

@Blackspider214 Just glancing at the top, it sure looks like almost all
if you or they dont like the ownershjip just go away and not post, how baout that?? works both ways doesnt it..they do nothing but create negative posts and somehow claim to be fan..they are whiny little!@#$%^&*()_s thats fact wha 245 years wha wha whambulance on its way..

btw you dont have to read or respond to my replies either, yet you did.hypocrite! lmao :lmao::muttley:
Other opinions bother you?

@Blackspider214 Just glancing at the top, it sure looks like almost all those top teams had one thing in common: a really, really, really, really good QB.

Brady, Roth, Flacco, Rodgers, Wilson, Peyton Manning, Brees, and Mahomes.

Cowboys had Romo and Dak for a good portion of those years.

You think this might be why teams spend large capital on QBs?
Flacco?????

Or were you putting forth a "what doesn't belong in this group" test

“Since 2000”
:lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:

How about since 1992? How about all-time?

“No, it has to be since 1996 or later!!!”

You’re being silly.
Are you trying to make the arguement that Jerry, not Jimmy, went from the oil field to savant player assessment and team building in 4 years only to not repeat that feat after the initial build got old and lost to FA?

Kodak was still the go to for photos in the early 90s, how are they fairing now?

My job performance was awesome in the 80’s & 90’s. Lol

I’ve been riding on my laurels ever since. And have memorabilia all over my office to support. I was great for awhile. But closer to average since.

When you own your own business it’s not about what have you done for me lately.
And it is why 70% of generational wealth is gone in generation #2 and 90% in generation #3

I love how people looking to pick a fight just LOVE to put words into other peoples’ mouths.

When did I ever praise Jerry?

Show me what I said that made you jump to that logical conclusion. Go ahead.

You want to go back to 1992. This chart chose 2000, not to zero in on the Cowboys, but because humans like round numbers. It is why every sports site will do "most HRS since 2010", "most wins since 2000." Going into the last millennium, 20 years removed, is not relevant for anyone under 50.

There are no GMs who have held that title longer. The only teams more futile had complete ownership problems, GM problems, change coaches ever 1.5yrs

What won a championship in 1992-5 has left the building. Just like Polaroid, CBS, phonebooks, pay phones, paper maps and encyclopedias

I was merely pointing out that it’s a stupid stat, in my opinion.

I truly don’t care about “playoff wins” at all.

Super Bowl wins matter. Nothing else.

In the last 21 years Dak has one of these wins. This contract and I am hopeful will get us more than Romo netted us just because of the sheer talent of the team and the fact we have a competent coach. I know everyone likes to laugh about Mccarthy getting a massage but I think there is something to those playoffs that GreenBay is leading with. I will show you:

**THANK whoever you praise that we do not have JG on our staff**

'18 - 4-7 - FIRED

DO NOT be so spoiled to put this man on the hot seat. Let him build his program, we are too fricky fracky as fans due to being so tolerable with Garrett, we feel as if because we got rowdy we were able to get him out and we can do the same with McCarthy quicker now because he has no attachments to the family business. Mike Nolan was a mistake, I'm sure he knows this very well... this is why we have DQ. Let out staff go to work for the next year and play out his 5 year contract I guarantee we will be a better franchise. We draft well, now the next step is to coach well on the field. What I highlighted here specifically is something we would all be satisficed with, these number of playoff WINS. We are begging for 1 NFCCG APPEARANCE, not even a WIN. We would be overwhelmed if we went to that game - because of the nature of us being out of the conversation for so long. This man has done this with a full program - give a lot of credit to AR but to say McCarthy did not have his hands all over GB football team and their culture is senile. I am excited for the season - we should be talking about this instead of being depressed. I will be in Raymond James Stadium Week 1 looking forward to starting off the season with a W.

If he said that, then I apologize to Nav22 for saying he did. I recall him talking about how guys leap off the film at him but if that's false, then that's my bad.

But the larger point here is that Jerry isn't a figurehead GM. He's actively involved in all aspects of team building. I'd suggest he's also kind of mediocre at it.

EDIT: You appear to be right. Based on a clip of a draft interview I just saw, Jerry basically sits in scouting meetings and they have presentations and share binders of information on draft prospects to help Jerry make the final call. So again, Nav22 appears to be right and I was wrong.
The problem as I see it, is Jerry has the responsibility and duty of a GM without putting in the work necessary to perform those duties competently.
He breaks the tie if there is a split decision on who to draft but if you don’t put the work in, what does he base the decision on?

Can you say "Toilet bowl"

Thanks, Jerry!

Then maybe this thread isn’t for you. Facts and data like these are presented to provide a certain narrative. A narrative while you might not like provides a perspective based on its content.

Perhaps you should start a thread on playoff wins since 1990 or 1970 which better represents your narrative.

This is probably fairly accurate. We really don’t know what all he does in detail as a GM but make the final decisions. But we can speculate it’s not in the depth that a normal GM takes like watching film for example.

He’s just too involved with other aspects of the franchise to dedicate the 70+ hours a week a normal GM dedicates to player evaluation. But he still makes all of the appearances , interviews and official spokesman for the team. And insist on remaining where the buck stops.

It’s really a sad state of affairs. We are so handicapped from a football perspective with his stranglehold on operations. It’s really a credit to those under him that we have been able to assemble a staff and enough talent to remain like in his words” interesting and relative “ .

We’ve witnessed what we could be when he totally delegates decisions to someone more qualified and willing to dedicate all of their time and passion . But winning back to back Super Bowls wasn’t enough if it means not being the face of his franchise and receiving the credit.

But he’s an owner who wants the celebrity status playing out his fantasy as a football guy so we are stuck with him until probably his final breathe all at our expense. It can’t end soon enough.

This isn’t directed at you as I know you agree but your thought sparked this response. Thanks
