I'm one of his biggest fans but I had to roll my eyes at the MVP talk. But if last night is how he plays with "rust"? Then maybe he may be in that discussion.
true many players are considered for Heisman or MVP usually like 5 candidates but only one winner..dak might be considered for sure.

Dak showed me something last night and while watching i was not just impressed with his yards and tds etc etc stats dont mean a lot in a loss.

however his situtation coming off those injuries not playing since game 5 but yet he stood in that pocket like warrior liked like TB12 that while the pocket was collapsing kept his eyes downfield made the correct reads, correct decisions, no ones prefect but Dak never flinched..the dffeierence between good qbs and great ones are just that, its how they are under pressure and that stat number daks i the top 5 while under pressure completing passes..

hes went from very good in my eyes to seemingly picking where he left off in the giants game and just elevating his game more. That was a shock to me in good way..

the man as player deserves more respect..

maybe thats why the team deflated last year when he went down..they respect this dude and knew theres not replacement that could do what he does..I am a Romo fan, it was hard to accept Dak taking over the way he did and i have been tough on Dak , not a hater always liked him but last nights he won me over..i now believe!

as the great TO once said, " thats my QB" LOL no tears :)

Yeah man I'm highly impressed. Like I said, even as a fan I had to temper expectations and be realistic. I would've accepted a 220 yard 2 TD game from him. That seemed far more realistic. I think what I loved most is his swag. Buccs would punch him in the mouth and he'd swing back. I think that type of play can be contagious to the rest of the team.

mvp i doubt it but its possible but he has in my eyes taken the next step..i didn't think he could rise from being around the 10th ranked qb but ill admit i was wrong..
me too.

i thought he was kirk cousins with more muscle. :laugh:But you don’t match the absolute GOAT Tom Brady throw for throw with no run game, a banged up OL, and the first game back from broken a broken ankle not even a year ago by accident.:omg:

I’m so happy that this cowboys season is actually worth watching I think we make a deep run.:flagwave:

I was just watching ESPN and in Dak’s last 16 starts he’s had it has been nearly 2 ENTIRE seasons since Dak has thrown under 300 passing yards or had less than 3 touchdowns.

Could he win MVP this year?

And yet the Cowboys are 4-11 the last 15 games Dak has thrown more than 40 times. It doesn't feel like a winning formula.

 The Bucs had Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jameis Winston putting up mega #s back before they got Brady. Were they mvp candidates?

No, QBs on losing teams are not mvp candidates. Next question.

I looked at my son last night and said that this was the game where Dak went to elite status.. I've been watching football a long time and have seen moments or games where the tide changed and last night was one of them... The reason I will put Dak in the elite status over Romo comes down to leadership and protecting the football. Think about it, if the defense gets the stop at the end of the game, everyone on this forum is praising Dak, but because of our defenses inability to get the stop, question marks still remain and scapegoats are needed for the Dak haters. Welcome to elite status Dak, most of us have always known you belong there.

Dak is elite.

He’s now top 5.

1. Brady
2. Mahomes
3. Rodgers
4. Allen
5. Dak
6. Wilson

Dak is by far the best QB in our division, so it would be a fireable offense for Big Mike if we don’t win the East.
And Brady and Rodgers are coming to the end...still obviously great...but another season maybe before both are gone.

People seem to focus entirely too much on fantasy football and personal stats rather than wins and losses as Dallas is 7-9 in Dak's last 16 games.

What is the priority: personal stats or team success??????
Dak can only control the things he can control. And boy did he control them last night.

What? He played 5 games last year, He had 2 games (one was cut short, but he was not on pace to reach those numbers) that didn't meet that standard. He had plenty in 2019 as well.

Fantasy football to me is one of the worst things to happen. People used to root for the team first; not anymore. Look at all the DaK fans slobbering over his stats BU WE LOST.
No real difference then when Romo was here. Lots of stats but no real result.
If people want to look at a stat that matters with respect to winning they should look at red zone passing. That's Dak's Achilles heal and there is a big gap between him and the elite QBs but no one seems to want to talk about that.

In a word, no.

Because the team winning record plays a massive part in the award.

He was hugely impressive last night. It was the frst time I have seen him play continually well in every quarter since...I don't know!

Fair play to him. Good lad.

That's a lot of yards for only 36 TDs.

I want to see those TD numbers skyrocket.
Nothing wrong with that either.

But how many potential TD or TD drives have been stalled by drops, which the Cowboys have been pretty bad with the past few years?

Not saying Dak is blameless, but it is hard to ignore that at times he did his part and the other end of the connection did not.

Is that because Dak is throwing so much or the only chance Dallas has is for Dak to throw that much?

I don't know the answer, but I would venture to say that without Dak attempting so many passes, the win-loss record does not improve.

My point? If the Cowboys ran it 40 times last night, the Bucs blow out the Cowboys. I have no doubt about that.

I'm just judging it based on when Manning threw for 5,500 yards and also 55 TDs.

5,700 yards and only 36 TDs seems like a lot of empty yards to me. That's 200 more yards, but an 20 less TDs than Manning.

Again, you're right about the drops, and you also have to factor in how bad we are in the red zone, Daks ability to run for TDs, and Zeke getting TDs when we get close and stuff like that also.

True. The last thing Dak really needs to improve on is the Red Zone passing.

He's not horrible at it, but he hasn't reached that elite level yet either. If he can, with what he has been able to do outside the 20, he will be a MVP candidate for sure.

Yet team success is so much bigger than the QB. We have a hc with no authority, a GM that never watches game film/video (the only NFL GM that doesn't lol), and a front office incapable of building a great roster on both sides of the ball and you blame Dak?

We are one of the most dysfunctional NFL franchises period. No franchise is run like Jerry runs the Cowboys and there is no end in sight to "doing things the same way yet expecting different results" as Jerry will never change and his idiot son appears to have no skills whatsoever in being an NFL GM. I should also mention our hc was not allowed to hire his own staff (unless Jerry signed off on it) which is why we have many coaches that have no credentials or accomplishments other than to be a former Cowboys player. This is not how the other teams that make deep playoff runs conduct business.

Romo couldn't win here and as great as Dak is (better than Glass Joe), I can't see him winning here either because organizational dysfunction always trumps having some great players on your team.

I was proud as hell of our guys last night on both sides of the ball, but there are simply not very many playmakers on defense to win enough games and that has nothing to do with Dak since the Jones Cartel are the ones that build the roster.
