And we will probably draft someone to try to replace Gallup, though I wonder if they franchise tag Gallup.
Y'know, I honestly hope they don't franchise him. I like Gallup a lot but he's not the top dog at receiver and I'm not sure tying up that much money at receiver is really prudent. Would rather have that cap space to improve other areas on the team.

I've been telling people for 3 years now...Wilson was better...lol
Not sure I agree about that (being better than Gallup), but I liked Wilson coming out of the draft and his college film was very good. Good, smooth route runner.
Happy he's finally getting a chance to show his talent and most likely earn some kind of extension.

Wilson isn't better but will be cheaper and a better value. And the fact Gallup is more likely to get a big contract, we'll get a better comp draft pick.

I agree, but this is Jerry we're talking about, and if he thinks we're really a year a way, he might do it.

When is Gallup due back? If Wilson keeps playing like a very solid third receiver and the offense keeps putting up good numbers, I'd consider trading Gallup since he isn't likely to be back next year. Of course, the concern would be if something happened to Cooper, Lamb or Wilson ... so it would take a pretty good offer, which I don't think we'll get with Gallup coming off injury.

The coaching staff, which includes Mike McCarthy, has elevated this team immensely since last year.

Bringing Dan Quinn in with his input for what he needed looks to be paying huge dividends. We look SO much better defensively.
The whole team is giving 110% effort. I haven't seen this team play this hard with so much effort and attitude for a long long time.
The difference? Mike McCarthy and Dan Quinn. They're fielding a team that's ready to play.

I don't want to see Kearse lose his starting job.

For once, it looks like we have too many safeties who should be playing. That's a great thing considering injuries.

In fact, depth has been promising this season.

Gallimore gets hurt, Odiggity steps in. Lawrence is hurt, here comes Parsons off the edge. Wilson and Neal are out; we've got Hooker and Kearse.

Even on offense, Steele steps in for Collins and is handling the job. Wilson for Gallup.

There are some areas where we are still not as strong as I'd like, but I don't know if we've had depth play this well for a very long time.
