Can I get some clarification on the meaning of "Garbage Time"?

The great Tom Landry use to drive me crazy because they would always go into the "Prevent Defense"

As a kid I always wondered what a prevent defense prevented.

Dalton’s GOAT!!

GARBAGE TIME!

I mean the only thing you are proving is that you have a strange obsession with me. You started tagging me now, waiting for about a year to reference a HYPERBOLE I made regarding Dalton a year ago after a pass, a hyperbole that nobody on the planet actually believes is weird…

Facts are Andy actually played better on the same team than Dak when it was clutch time and Andy had way more excuses than Dak, including not having Zach Martin for Zeke and Pollard to run behind…. And when they had the same conditions, aka the first Giants game, Andy played pretty much just like Dak, almost to the exact tee, because Moore relied on the RG in both cases.

If one team is down by multiple scores in the 4th qtr and has no real chance to catch up.
And opponent's defense is either playing prevent defense---with the thought that even if they give up a score or two, the clock runs out, they are fine with it.
They may even be playing some (or alot of) backups.

Then THAT is garbage time by any definition.

This is other stuff is about when a team is still in it and trying to come back in the 4th.

Yeah you said I was obsessed with you last year when I’d tag you during game-threads every time Dak beasted a TD and just beat the doors off your opinion of him as a player. Remember how you affectionately referred to him as a bum? Is he still a bum? Lmao

I see no problem with saying Darnold packed on two TDs in garbage time against us. Just like Dak did all last year.

Like I said, you are obsessed with me in particular, when we’ve had basically like zero conversations until now. In like the last three days, you’ve referenced me specifical about 100 times. I mean it’s clear you’ve been waiting for the day to run Dak in my face. You must be pretty patient biting your tongue, since it’s been six years for you to have some data to support he’s finally learned to check into run plays against zone coverage. Calm down
I haven't looked at his stats today but I think Dak had a really strong performance today.
I have always been on the fence more or less watching but I will say that Dak has improved every single year. He is locked up for a while so we need to put the people around him to succeed as a team. Aikmen never had the stats but he was a leader of men and I think Dak has that same quality.

You mean when we were losing against garbage teams. Were you tagging me when he turned the ball over too, for a whopping 7 times in 4 and a half games, including a pick 6 to the Giants?

So basically I was ignoring you and your “mountain of evidence”.

Is that why you are so obsessed these last few days? Like I said, calm down. It’s been 6 years where you can finally say “yeah, Dak with this superior roster is showing improvement..”

The panthers were never in garbage time. Garbage time is when you have zero chance of winning the game like if they scored that last touchdown with 4 minutes left and were still down 2 or 3 scores thats a garbage time touchdown. But they scored to get within 1 score with almost 4 minutes left.
So based off the definition you give, in Dak put up exactly zero "garbage time" stats in 2020?

I ask because outside of the Browns game (in which the Cowboys D gave up the big Odell end around TD with under 4 minutes to play), it was the only Dak-played game which the Cowboys loss by more than 1 score.

Then in 2019, Cowboys only lost by more than one score twice (vs GB and Buffalo). The other 6 losses were by 8 points or less. So that is a lot less "garbage time" stats than what we have been lead to believe.

Hmmmmm.

Just thinking out loud.

garbage time to me is being down by more than two td's in the 4th quarter or by more than 3 tds in the 3rd quarter.

He was actually mediocre the first half. Moore came our running the ball downhill. They had 97 yards rushing before the third was over. They had like 60 yards passing, one of them a bomb to Amari, meaning set up by the run game.

The Panthers couldn’t stop the Cowboys RG up the guy after that. That’s why Dak had 4 TDs thrown on like a total of less than 200 yards passing at that point in time.

He’s playing well though in the context of the offense. But this was another home performance, where we tend to be dominant. Dak has surprised on the road in Tampa, but he was mediocre in SD.

Oh no….

That bum just made a living off GARBAGE TIME!

If it wasn’t for GARBAGE TIME! Dak wouldn’t even be in the league.

according to the media Dallas being down 31-21 and Dak throwing it 20 consecutive times because the run game only had 18 yards on 25 carries would be garbage time because some of these journalist either have an agenda or they need to cover another sport because they dont know football

The bottom line is, a lot of Romo fans don't like Dak as if they played for different teams. This is how it will always be, so ignore and move on.

So, in your opinion, Dak lead the Cowboys to a big enough lead that in the 4th Quarter, he had done enough (with his 4 TD passes and 22 point 4th Quarter lead) to seal the victory?

Your the one tagging me or referencing me in every post you make, that I happen to come across when I’m going through threads. Who exactly is obsessed and trying to release all that bent up frustration? Like I said homie, calm down..

By this definition I’m going to guess this guy is firmly in the @khiladi camp of “Dak’s a bum!”

I’m not familiar with this poster at all. I’m just using abductive reasoning.

Am I right? Am I?

You mean the dominant RG that opened up the stagnant offense starting in the third…. I said the game was over before the Panthers scored their final TD and bounced…
