That explains the timing. Curious to see where he lands after clearing waivers.

No one is taking on his contract, but for less money someone will give him a shot.
Do 6 year vets go on waivers? I don't think so.

Maybe there is a catch in the contract somewhere. Or they want someone else. Something else going on besides money anyways. If he is paid then bench him. Maybe mad over limited snaps.
It’s the 2022 injury guarantee
I get it now
He has a 9 mil injury guarantee for 2022
That makes sense not to risk that much money

Wow!

Making room for guys that are coming back and can play better.

If Jerry had paid Dak early instead of having him play out his contract we could have saved all the money we gave to Jaylon. Expensive mistake times two.
Right, Dak should be making Derek Carr money and it would be one of the biggest discounts in the league.

I met him in Oxnard in 2016 and had an opportunity to talk to him for 3 or 4 minutes. He’s a really nice guy and extremely well spoken, I hope someone else picks him up and he ends up being better in their system. Either way, I wish him the best in life!

I agree. And they look like idiots for not doing this in March before wasting $7 million.

Um….don’t get that. He’s been a decidedly average NFL linebacker this year playing a lower number of snaps. You already owe him all his money this season and you’re not going to get anyone better off the street.

Just seems like a pointless move that only hurts depth
With his 2022 guarantee, if he got hurt with one of those year long recovery injuries, he would cost his salary and a roster spot for next year. This is a ballsy move and something Bill Belichik would do.

Wow....

Probably the right move. I really respect how hard he worked to get back onto the field after the horrible injury, but he never really recovered the elite athleticism he once had.

I agree man.

He was terrible on the field but now that he’s off the field and no longer hurting my team I do have to say I respect the heck out of the guy and his attitude when it came to overcoming the injury.

He did everything the right way for the most part. His entrepreneur side really got annoying but I have a lot of respect for Jaylon and the way he fought to get back on the field and his amazing year he had in 2019 before getting paid.
