RELEASED Jaylon Smith released

i wonder if he had some kind of run in with quinn over playing time.
this really came out of no where.

mccarthy's got some belichick to him.
thanks for trying...now get out.
I don't think it came out of no where. Coaches watch tape, too. The bean counters had to give the nod and convince Jerry it was financially frugal to cut him loose. Quinn probably had that on his to do list since the draft.

No one is more of a liability than Jaylon. I fully expect Cox to start seeing more reps on defense. Up until now he was basically a special teams guy and thats it.

He could have been inserted at anytime if he was ready. Smith's being there had no bearing on his playing time.

I think there is zero
Absolutely zero chance the Jones’ boys admit their massive mistake and cut Jaylon. Unless the HC asked them to.

so yeah I think Mike had something to do with it.
I’m guessing mike and Quinn said we have better options
Stephen says, daddy jaylon has a 9 million injury guarantee for 2022
Jerry says, see ya jaylon

This almost gave me the same shock as when I picked up the morning paper and read, "Cowboy's trade Herschel Walker to Vikings" .............almost...

So how much salary cap is saved for next year? Like 5.5 million?

Now we all need to say "Jaylon was the best!!!" "The greatest" Sign him now!!... that way the salary or part is also gone right?

That explains the timing. Curious to see where he lands after clearing waivers.

No one is taking on his contract, but for less money someone will give him a shot.

Doesn't really explain anything. 2022 was guaranteed on the 5th league day of 2022. We're like 6 months out from that, right?

I met him in Oxnard in 2016 and had an opportunity to talk to him for 3 or 4 minutes. He’s a really nice guy and extremely well spoken, I hope someone else picks him up and he ends up being better in their system. Either way, I wish him the best in life!

I'm assuming they really want Neal playing and don't want the distraction of a high dollar LB sitting on the bench.

I support moving on but am a bit concerned about how the team handles it. They appear tight nit and like him or not he's a leader.
It's not personal sonny,it's business...hope you get the quote...but it's true regardless.

My first thought is there is more to this than what meets the eye. In a vacuum it makes no sense to just release him mid season. No cap savings and quite frankly he was playing well enough to be a nice depth piece that could play 15-20 snaps a game. I think we’re going to get a report on something else going down (legal, extracurricular, locker room issue, etc).
