This is good for the team. He's been terrible. You're being ridiculous.

Loser's mentality? Pathetic? Wow.

Clearly, it's a winner's mentality. Many have been frustrated with the defense
seemingly playing with only 10 while he's on the field.
There will be rejoicing! There will be celebration! Smoke'm if ya got'em!

We can't celebrate improving our team!?!
No thanks. I will not comply.
He didn’t say you couldn’t celebrate improving the team but many are celebrating the failure of Jaylon. That’s childish and just wrong after that horrible injury and how he worked extremely hard in his comeback.

I don’t know why it took until him being cut for me to realize this, but the reason why he has such a big ego and head is due to the hardships and stress he endured when he got injured in college. He was one of the best LBs in college and a sure fire 1st round draft pick only to blow out his leg during the last game of the season. That would take a toll on anyone’s mental health. Personality wise, I Think he forced himself to believe in himself 150% and work twice as hard as everyone else just to get a chance to see the field again at the pro level. That, coupled with a very good come back year in 2018 and the huge contract - the ego shot up through the roof and it created a persona unable to be self-aware even when playing poorly.

That being said I admire his dedication and what he went through but at the end of the day football is football and if you can’t play football then get the hell out
I actually buy what you are saying

But I also know that if he THOUGHT the game like Mike Singletary, or Ray Lewis or Sean Lee...he would still be in this league. Physical limitations aside, he was like a QB that could not go through his reads. He simply could not play!

I suspect Jaylon might have started complaining about not getting the reps he felt he had coming. Just a guess on my part, though. Otherwise, perhaps the staff followed his advice and started reading the tape and found it to be wanting. Maybe Jaylon shouldn't have said that?!
Anyhow, I'd loved to have been a fly on the wall to hear what Jerry told him when he was dismissed. :D
There must have been lots of uh's, er's and ah's involved, I'll betcha! ;)
Also, I wonder if there's another LB in line to get. o_O

I can only imagine how awkward the meeting was. I see Jaylon coming in and lighting up to see his old pal Jerry. Then Jerry having to explain what a brutal business football can be, and how he is obligated to make decisions sometimes that he doesn't like, for the betterment of the club going forward.

Publicly Jaylon doesn't have a lot of self awareness. Whether "check the film" is a facade or his legitimate belief is beyond me. If it truly is how he feels, he's shocked that a superstar like himself is being let go. In fairness most of us are pretty damn surprised, even though he was performing better he is being released. Then again we didn't think about the injury clause in his contract either.

One thing I will say is his response from what I have heard has been nothing but positive. So the front office must have handled it somewhat well? Hate him or not Jaylon shows to be an extremely positive person and that mindset goes a long ways for anyone. More power to him, and good luck moving forward.

Yes he made me furious on the field, and social media at times, but I never questioned the character of the man. Annoying as hell at times, but he always seemed to be good people.

Looks like the fanbase is going to have to find another whipping boy. Can’t think of a player in recent years that’s received more flack from the fans than Jaylon.
Oh...#55 is on deck.

And #90 is not far behind, although I think people are WRONG about him. With #94 finally showing up....#90 is going to give fans the STATS they want...but make no mistake....#90 can play

And I actually think #55 will play better with #9 gone. I think he will clear his head of what he THOUGHT him and #9 were....and realize that there is a new sheriff in town...and he ain't giving out belly rubs!

I am here for the Jaylon Smith appreciation thread.

Lol I almost started one just to see how hard yall would roast me.

Then I started to do a sarcastic one with clips of his lowlights, but I'm lazy, technologically unsavy, and it felt a little to harsh. Lol

MM is gonna take the brunt of the whippings around here. AB will probably make another appearance and Dlaw got paid so that's not gonna stop unless his sack numbers shoot up. Don't nobody care about run defense lol. Oh and our crazy kicker is on thin ice.

None of those will provide the material Jaylon did though.

FRISCO, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys have released linebacker Jaylon Smith, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The move comes as a surprise because Smith has not missed a game in his career and the Cowboys are on the hook for his full $7.2 million base salary. The team had some trade discussions earlier in the season, according to sources, but a deal never came to fruition. By releasing Smith now, the Cowboys are free from the $9.2 million base salary in 2022 that was currently guaranteed only for injury.

Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones met with Smith on Tuesday to discuss the team's decision, according to a source.

Of course he hasn't missed a game...only the referee has less contact out there on the field. Actually, Jaylon has some attributes that might translate into him being a ref one day...he might have to cut his hair so that he can fit onhe does a good job or raising his hand after every play
I honestly thought he was playing better this season than last year. Rarely do you see a notable player who’s receiving significant snaps get released during the season when you’re winning. It’s kind of a head scratcher to be honest.
You do realize him playing "better" is STILL below average!!!

Jaylon's film put him in rarefied air

He literally looked like he was playing blindfolded.

If so, Need to give 90 the axe as well. 90 is the founder of the HotBoyz. Jaclyn was simply 2nd in command and temporary "leader" when 90 has been rehabbing that foot.

The "Hotboyz" era will go down as the most entitled bs garbage I've had to endure from this team. Let that be a lesson going forward, nicknames are earned not invented by a bunch of guys who haven't actually performed as a unit.

I've enjoyed using the name for my fantasy teams though lol

Like who? I bet most thinks it way overdue.

I dont think you get to break the huddle pregame if you don't have some leadership qualities. Jaylon has a magnetic personality that I'm sure drew teammates in. I don't think his brothers in arms feel anything like we do about him. Although it's hard to imagine they aren't aware of his limitations.

I told all my buddies...that if we trotted #54 out on the field next year, then it was BUSINESS as usual. Him switching to #9 did not fool me OR the opposing team. But a funny thing happened along the way, he was getting "vets day off" during training camp. Then the games happened...and he was getting limited snaps. Then after being 2nd to last in the NFL giving up 20+ yards play this season...Dan Quinn had enough evidence to convince the owner that #9 was in the way of this defense being solid...down in and down out.

The buzz Dallas is getting must feel good to Jerry. A defense actually getting sacks and generating turnovers must feel like water in the desert to Jerry. So the coaches struck while the iron was hot...and got Jerry to be Jimmy for 1 week. And the entire team and coaching staff will be better for it!

I also think LVE will play better. I think #9 had him believing he/they were better than they are. Combine that with Parsons showing up and playing lights outs. Parsons set a new bar for what great LB play looks like. I hope LVE sees that.
