....then why not do that BEFORE the season? Why the revelation now?

The emergence of Micah and Jaylons play do not justify risking him getting injured. If he got injured this season, the team would be on the hook for his entire 2022 salary.

Tough when anyone in any industry loses their job but there is no denying that J. Smith was a liability in his job as he became a 5th best LB on the team. In addition, Smith's antics didn't help his cause as he seemed to be about things other than football after he got paid.

Are you paying attention DLaw?

FACTS!!

He will get signed by a team that has injuries this season. But I find it hard that he will EVER go through a training camp for another team and actually make the roster. Especially if the team owns a couple of blocking sleds!

I'm gonna miss this kind of stuff. It provided comic relief but I'd rather the cowboys win. Quinns probably looking at the film and wondering if the guy thinks he can fly or just has poor stereoscopic vision.:facepalm:

As the biggest ND fan/Smith fan you’ll meet this is a gut punch. I feel like I did when he got hurt in his last college football game. I know he hasn’t been the same player and most people wish it had happened sooner. Best of luck to him. He’s a good dude.

As for Jaylon's next celebration . . . He can River Dance His *** out the door . . .

Dress him up as Notre Dames leprechaun and parade Him out during Half Time . . . He is an All Pro Cheerleader

Whomever takes over better be a improvement. Everyone is going to be watching him. Jaylon was likely a leader in the locker room and will be missed. But lots of youth here now. His money was guaranteed this year anyways. So there maybe something else going on.

Is LVE the 4th best LB on the team?

I’m sure they are.

He’s a good guy by all accounts, but this is a football decision.

You don’t part ways with good football players. Jaylon is not a good football player, or more accurately, not good enough to risk being on the hook for another $7.2M.

You hope it don't upset chemistry when they're rolling, if numbers matter, he was the best rated lb out of LVE and Neal. Something is up. Here in Washington they want him bad

That so many of you are focused on the money and thinking somehow JS's paycheck is an entitlement to laugh at the man says so much. I have no problem with the move, I have a problem with people rejoicing at another's failure. It's a pathetic, loser's mentality and a poor excuse for bad behavior.

Some of the comments are exaggerated, and cruel, especially for a good player who's career derailed as his body couldnt cope and he didnt have the football intelligence to overcome physical short comings with tactical acumen. but he didnt do himself any favors with his rumored comments about playing Special Teams.

But this is just exuberance (on a Fan Forum) and fans are just happy (no, jubilant) that Jerry is changing the organisational direction away from making contractual errors and then compounding the problem by kicking the can down the road and taking a stand and cutting.

It's a tough break on Jaylon, but the bottom line is that its a great day when we can cut $9m and have arguably better talent (Kearse, Neal and probably Cox) to play more snaps at a fraction of the cost.

It's kind of crazy looking at the comments on Shefter's tweet. A lot of fans have a very different opinion of Smith than Dallas fans.
