Video: Prescott had a PRP injection

Do you think this doc is a quack?
No idea if he’s a quack or not but after listening to him I would NEVER have him as my doctor. I mean bone marrow and stem cell treatment for a calf injury? Sure sounds like quackery. Also, he’s very inarticulate and has a “Fantasy Doctors” channel. Yeah, I’d be very suspicious of this guy.

Sounds like your first aid certification did you no service.

At the end of the day I have no reason to not trust the team doctors.

If they think Dak is healthy enough to play he will play. If they think it’s best to not play. He won’t.

They did a great job getting Dak back from his injury and ready for the season. They can handle a calf strain.

Wow. In other words, the Cowboys team doctors messed up by giving Dak a dose of the PRP this week without realizing it will inflame/swell up the injured calf and not allow Dak to heal enough to play without resting for at least a week? As this specialist said, the Cowboys team doctors should have given Dak a PRP and bone marrow injection last week during the bye week, this way Dak would have healed better and been ready to play tomorrow night.

What are the Cowboys team doctors doing? They only prolonged Dak's availability to heal enough to play, thus hurting the Cowboys. They should have been in touch with this doctor specialist and allowed him to treat Dak immediately after he injured his calf 2 weeks ago. Big dummies!

If I were Jerry Jones, I would be pissed right now after watching this video.

This is an awful reaction to the video and you completely miss what it says.

Who says the team doctors "messed up"? The video doesn't even say that. What makes you think they wouldn't know about the inflammation? The video even says team doctors know all about PRP. The video doesn't say the team should have done something else, he only says he would have done something else. There's a big difference as the video hasn't seen the injury, doesn't know the patient, and doesn't know the results of other treatments that may have happened.

We also don't know what the medical field in general thinks about other types of treatment. There may be concerns this doctor isn't mentioning.

It's now obvious to me they want him to play really bad, otherwise, they would have shut him down a few days ago. Perhaps their thinking is we really need this game or Cooper is making them more nervous than we know......lol
I think they planned on him not playing regardless and will let him and the medical staff make the final decision. If he's truly medically cleared I can't imagine him not playing but they're much more cagey than the previous regime

He's all about pushing these expensive advanced treatments to get athletes back into the game quicker. I don't know if that's good or bad. The NFL is certainly prime to be preyed upon by this kind of medical practitioner.

Absolutely. Assuming this doctor is correct it sounds like a huge mistep in his recovery.

I will say I discovered this guy last year for fantasy football purposes and he's usually right on with his analysis. He predicted Austin Ekelers return last year by the exact week after he injured his hamstring. He's also been right about Chris Carson's injury with the herniated disk.

Yes, but saying that without saying how many predictions he made that didn't come to pass is misleading. I don't know what he's predicted and what he hasn't, so what's his success rate?

Speak English? Understand English?

This specialist clearly said that Dak should have been given a PRP treatment LAST WEEK in order to give his body the needed 1 week of rest and healing needed to lower any inflammation. Doing it this week lowers the time to heal better.

I have no idea if this guy is right or not

but his entire argument is based on the fact that team doctors just don’t know these other products are available

no way I’m buying that

The shot he gave him speeds recovery time up I've had a couple and that is what the Specialist I had told me.

It does ultimately, but the way the doctor describes it you have to get past the inflammatory process it exacerbates. If you go by what he said we should've done it sooner so he'd be ready, that's If we didn't use a "stronger therapy."

As I'm sure you gather I don't know, but he makes it sound like our team docs neglected to speak with a specialist and we are paying for that neglect.

So this guy's expressing his opinion without knowing which type of PRP they injected. Yeah, I'll just wait and see what happens tomorrow.

It's not about treating Dak. It's about understanding the different treatments available and how each works and affects the body.

Yes and it's virtually impossible for the docs to be well versed in everything. Daks shoulder (lat injury) in the off season is a perfect example. Sometimes you have to refer to other more specialized experts. That said we don't know their knowledge base or who they spoke with about the therapy. I agree it paints a bad picture of our team doctors.

While it’s officially still a game time decision amd he’s listed as questionable the Vegas line has moved to Vikings -3, almost a 5 point swing so they must think he’s not playing.

Correct. That's exactly what this orthopedics specialist said.

Oh...look (for those questioning this specialist), even Google shows the same from another orthopedics specialist's office in Michigan...

I guess those "internet" orthopedic specialists/doctors don't know what they are talking about? o_O
