Did the Cowboys Peak Too Early?

Was the Cowboys comeback win on the road against the Vikes the highpoint of the season? Was Dak's winning TD pass in OT on the road against the Pats the highlight of his season? What this team put on tape with Dak against the Broncos was shameful. All of you homers out there think it was an anomaly and won't happen again but what if you're wrong? What if that is all the Cowboys are capable of for the rest of the season. If they are capable of doing that, they are capable of repeating it, game after game. This could be the greatest collapse in Cowboys history. 6-11 won't win the division. :(
Again, anything is possible.
.
6-11?
Even in worst case scenario, don't you think they'll win at least couple more games?
I'll stick to my 9-8/10-7 prediction.

Naw.

If Dallas can regroup/refocus...I believe this team is talented enough to make a solid run at the trophy. Biggest problem I've said all along is they were reading too many of their press clippings and fell head first into believing them...Mr Fangio had other ideas.

Go Cowboys!

My issue is the pattern. How many years have we come out and looked formidable only to falter when it gets tough? This goes back to Jerry and the circus he loves to run. It's a distraction and allows our team to think they are better than they are. This game on Sunday will be telling. If we come out and take it to ATL, then I'll continue to feel that this team is different than past Cowboys teams. IF we let ATL hang around, then I am going to start thinking that this team is no different than the past 13-3 teams.
It is entirely possible that this team is not as good as those 13-3 teams from the past. I have read some comments from fans saying that this team was better than the 90’s championship teams. This shows just how delusional Cowboy fans have become with just the tiniest bit of success. To be honest, the Cowboys have not won a meaningful game since the mid-90’s, but the fanbase and even the players started getting a bad case of head swelling after a few early season wins.

I’m questioning your intent . Posting such a scenario could be interpreted as inciting a response . Which in turn is trolling Cowboy fans . Sometimes there’s a fine line but that’s how it came off to me.
No sir, telling me my intent is not questioning my intent. You are being far too confrontational to be questioning. It crosses the line of civil discourse into the realm of inciting an argument. I posted a scenario for civil discussion but rather than discussing the topic you decided to attack me. Everyone that posts here does so with anticipation of getting a response. That's not trolling, it's just conversation. It's what we do on a discussion board. You attack me and then accuse me of trolling fans... for what? I introduced a scenario for civil discussion and you just did not like it. Rather than having a counterpoint to my post, you confront me personally. You are the aggressor here. It's all civil talk until you decide rather than introducing a counterpoint to my post, you attack me.

I don’t think they lay another egg like this again till the end of season if we secure a playoff spot before that game. If we lose this next game there will be panic in the organization. This next game is against a team coming back. This Sunday I thought we win this easy. So did they.

We have been punched in the face. How we respond will dictate the rest of the year. We have the talent and aren’t totally healthy yet. If I am MM I try not to break anyone but I want intensity out there. And I want a actual game plan.
I agree. This team must respond with a convincing win.

So many Cowboys fans feelings will hinge on this one game against ATL.

It's what is known as the Rubicon. A point when once crossed, you can not return to where you once were. We were contenders for the NFC playoff 1 seed. Lose to ATL and we will find ourselves scratching and clawing in free fall to even make the playoffs.
Even a 2 game skid doesn't mean we won't make the playoffs. Our health will determine if we make the playoffs. We are a darn good team no matter how you look at it. We obviously have some work to do.

I do think they will do better than 6-11. At this point, I can't see a scenario where the Cowboys don't win enough games to at least back into the playoffs.

The team's ability to recover from a two-game skid is a different matter from how the fan base will respond to a two-game skid. You are correct in your comments but it misses how the fans will respond. I'm talking about how this fan base will go nuts with a loss to ATL.

Very true Joe, the hard fact is no team can sleep walk through a game and win it on a consistant basis.....they clearly read their own hype and we have seen this even with the 90's teams who would drop 1 or 2 clunkers then refocus....I'm guessing the fan base was going nuts about the sky falling back then also.

Almost every good team we’ve had since our 90s championships peaked around mid season and began to taper off. Our 09 team was playing the best football of any of our good teams in the 2000s entering the playoffs. That team ended the regular season with back to back shut outs.

The fans today are far more cynical.

Of course. No intent or inciting calling for 6-11. Lol

Please carry on…But for the record . I wasn’t insulting or attacking you. I was attacking the message. And I did provide an initial counter.
Have fun .

Absolutely not.

They are a young team that will get better as the year goes on.

They are just doing what good teams do and that’s win football games but Dallas hasn’t come close to reaching their overall potential.

Should be interesting to watch the sky fall for so many. :)

By you assuming the operation of my own mind and then using that assumption to tell me my own intent is absolutely a reach too far and beyond civil discourse. You keep misconstruing the context of which I mentioned 6-11. It obviously triggered you to the point you felt justified in questioning my motive for the post, but not even that exempts you from maintaining a civil discussion. You know you crossed the line which is why you keep trying to run away.
