Has anyone ever seen a guy play so poorly and keep his job. He must have pictures of Jerry with call girls or something.

The coaches really need to consider playing Collins there and moving Steele back to RT when Tyron returns. The penalties and whiffs are going to keep happening and a play like that could cost the team a playoff game.

Is there anyone that thinks this guy should keep his job? Dudes in his fourth year for goodness sake.
This guy must have pictures of someone with a farm animal. He had three penalties today within just a few plays. Someone help me figure out how and why this guy is still starting over McGovern????

Jaylon.
Looking like LVE is going to get second billing and that's a bad thing.

Stop drafting broken players Jerry.

but it's not like he's missing blocks, getting blown off the ball,
Actually he does, plus commits penalties. Not every play but he is clearly the weakest link. It would be different if we had no options but most of think there are.

Williams isn't that bad. He's an average NFL offensive lineman. Have the penalties been a little out of control recently? Definitely. Getting that many penalties as a left guard is not sustainable long term for a starter. I think so many fans are out for #52 is because we have had an embarrassment of riches on the OL the last decade.

Looking at the situation objectively. Here is what the numbers say about Williams.

Penalties - 10 (worst in the NFL for guards)
Sacks Allowed - 1(31st in the NFL for guards)
PFF Grade 74.5 (upper quartile of starting NFL linemen)

I don't have a way to check his pass block and run block win rates so if anyone has a PFF subscription please feel free to add that in. I would imagine that they are not bad considering our overall win rates as an offense, but I cannot say for certain.

Basically the numbers support the opinion that he is an average-slightly above average guard that commits an extraordinary amount of penalties. The eye test also would confirm this. Do we need to try and get him to clean up the penalties? For sure. Holding penalties are drive killers. Should we look for an upgrade if at all possible? Yes, like always, but you tell me what teams are dealing starting caliber offensive linemen right now. OL is always a position of need around the league, and we are lucky to have two hall of famers (Smith, Martin), 3 average starters (Collins, Biadasz, Williams, McGovern) and a decent swing tackle (Steele) playing for us right now. There simply are not enough good offensive linemen to go around. I would not be opposed to giving McGovern a crack at the starting job, but maybe the coaching staff knows better than all of us fans on this one.

Careful what you wish for. CW has been an average NFL G this season. If you have a fully healthy OL I can see how Collins is an upgrade, but you dont have a fully healthy line right now.

The Cowboys will continue to play him because :
1) He really hasnt performed poorly, and was a top half of the league G last season.
2) The Cowboys want him to get paid this offseason so they can get the comp pick
3) Collins is probably the only true upgrade on the team right now, and hes already in the lineup.
He has more holding calls than 16 TEAMS do. He isn’t good, nor is he average

Basically he is undersized and lacks the strength and technique necessary to pass protect.; I'm as frustrated with him as anyone, but is McGovern truly better? Apparently the coaching staff aren't sure he is a better option otherwise he'd be playing..

Mostly agree here and you're right Williams isn't the bad guard some think here. Outside of the penalties, he's been a pretty solid starter, which is why he has kept his job. I think Gallup will get quite a bit more though, while Williams may touch 7 million a year on the higher side.
I’ve watched sportrac for years and they estimate contracts based on comparable contracts
They’ve been pretty accurate for years
They estimate CW gets 10 mil based on peats and flowers contracts
They have Gallup getting 9 mil
What hurts gallups value is he’s basically the 3rd option here and I don’t think any team his gonna pay him to be the 1. And there is several good WR’s hitting the market at the same time
But it’s all just a guess till we see what really happens

Good point on the number of talented WRs coming onto the market. It's just hard to invision the NFL leader in penalties getting 10 million a year.

He’s a solid player and on the oline that gets you paid
Peat or flowers aren’t stud players either but they got big contracts

True. Let's hope it's by someone else.
No doubt it will be someone else
I wouldn’t sign him to a second contract because I’d only sign elite players to second contracts and draft replacements for the good players
Any second contract for a starter quality player is high
And I think MCGovern or Farniok can replace him
MCGovern played solid last year and while it was just a small sample in pre season I liked what Farniok brought
