Shameful that Jimmy Johnson is never even consulted despite his high position with this team history and fans.

All Jerry did was say "why don't we let Fox bid against CBS". It was hardly a lesson. Jerry was just more focused on his team b/c that was his main business. Most of the other owners have larger portfolios and their NFL team is just one asset. They are more focused on life and running their empires. None want to be as involved as Jerry is with their football team.
I'm not saying I agree with his legacy or his standing (I don't know well enough), but these are the things that are said.

Are you a boss or a worker.....I've been both, when I had 96 employees, they knew who was the boss....when I worked for someone, I knew who was the boss.....Jimmy quit on us!
If your employee had your company on the top of the world or best in your industry; you would sat back and kept the gravy train going as long as you could instead of running off your talented employee.

He's still the owner and he gave Jimmy every thing he needed to succeed....
If you watched the Last Dance; the Chicago Bulls have not accomplish anything after Jerry Krause broke up the team after their second three peat in 1998.

He should of never had to go to Miami.

If Jerry got out of his way; the Cowboys could have won 4-5 straight SBs.

By all accounts the separation was mutual. Jimmy himself said he has his share of blame and regrets in that relationship. Jerry is arrogant and should have just sat down and shut up, but Jimmy also went out of his way to make sure everyone knew Jerry had no part in the success. Everyone remembers the stupid “500 coaches could win a SB here” comment from Jerry, but nobody remembers the stuff Jimmy did and said that led up to that. He made multiple unprompted comments that season to the team and media about Jerry that were not necessary.

All accounts? BS. The theory that Jimmy voluntarily walked away from a team HE built coming off back to back super bowl titles without any provocation is bunk. Sure the seperation was "mutual". Jerry wanted in on the football operations and offered Jimmy a new contract after the second super bowl which basically took player personnel decisions away from Jimmy. Thats why he walked away and Jerry paid him 1M to keep go quietly.

Jimmy didn’t realize how good he had it here until he left. For all their personal issues, Jerry Jones gave him blank checks and endless resources. Jimmy has said he got to Miami and then found out how most NFL coaches are forced to work with what they’re given.

Jimmy was actively in talks with two different franchises to leave the Cowboys before the press conference where it was announced he was leaving. Wayne Weaver almost got busted for tampering by meeting with Johnson while he was still the Cowboys coach in early 1994.

Jimmy was the mover, but that couldn't have been the case without Jerry hiring him and allowing the moves he wanted to make.

If only Jerry could make that kind of smart choice again ...

This is the main reason the Cowboys have sucked for 26 straight years and can explain the losing country club culture they have to this day.
