Does anyone think Dak is better than Romo was?

Romo would have beat the 9ers with this roster. Dak has longer stretches of inaccuracy than Romo did, gets timid in the pocket and hold the ball too long and takes sacks. Throwin balls in the dirt, behind and over receivers all day stalling drives......Dak does this more than Romo did. Romo made Dez an all pro and Dak couldn't do anything with him, couldnt hit any back shoulder fades which Romo excelled at. I'd take a healthy Romo over Dak

I guess we can say that Aikman would have taken the 2007 and 2014 Cowboys rosters to the Super Bowl. Or that Rodgers, Brady or Peyton Manning would have as well. Since you all always love to use this logic with Dak. Then why can't the same "what if" scenarios, which will never actually be proven be used with Romo?

2016 Dak I would take all year round. 2021 Dak trying to pretend he is Payton Manning no thank you.
2016 Dak was nowhere near as good as 2019 Dak or 2021 Dak pre injury.
He, and anyone and everyone coaching him would tell you that.

2016 Dak could not read defenses...at all. Garrett loved him becasue he ran what he told him to run and we had one the best lines we've ever had.
He, with his zone-read, etc....and equally very-best version of Zeke, caught the league off guard.
As they always do with players that have unexpected success, the league adjusted over the offseason

His 2017 was awful, but starting from there was when his real growth began.

2016 Dak behind this year's line and a worn-out Zeke would have struggled.

As a top hater of Dak, he definitely worked and works hard and improved. But he’s pretty much peaked and certain qualities you either have or you don’t and they manifest themselves regularly through each season.

It’s not a knock on him, being the NFLs best backup is still a job 99% of the population can’t do.

Yet I would prefer the 2016 Prescott as he could actually use his wheels which added so much to the offense. His improved throws haven't added as much since. He used to be a genuine dual threat which when coupled with Zeke was very productive.

I'd rather have young Romo's mobility.

Romo improved his game when he started to use his mobilty but before he got to the line of scrimmage he learned to pass. Dak started to develop that too back in 2016, but it seems something he has lost. 2016 Dak also had better instincts.

Nooe I would just take Daks mobility and give it to a young romo

Dak has horrible mobility in the pocket. He’s heavy and lead footed. His talent was in his strength and being hard to bring down. He could out muscle a defender and with his strength and thick base stay up.

That is one place where Dak has regressed from his 2016 version. He is more talented, but now he is no Jedi like romo was. It seems he has lost his instincts.

I don't think Dak had better instincts back then. I think he had fewer options from which to choose, which made the choices easier. He also didn't have opposing defenses familiar with his traits yet.

I think they go 9-8 at best this year with 2016 Dak.....but we'll never know!

It is also troubling that this year he was the Quarterback that fumbled the most. I mean if a "mobile" quarterback is supposed to be like a "slash" running back, and you don't want running backs to fumble. Would that be a good trait of a mobile quarterback?

No doubt.
I don't get when people point to 2007 Romo as if that was who he eventually was.
Not that he was bad in '07....he was very good already.
But he would be (and has been) the very first to tell us that he was light years better in 2014 than 2007.....as he should've been.
He said they would've destroyed that Giants defense if he knew then what he eventually learned....and it was frustrating to look back but that's how it goes as you mature.

True. Similar some people bring up 2007 as a reason why Romo shouldn't have been brought back in 2016...

Man, am I late to this thread. Yes, I think Romo is/was better than Dak. Just being able to read defenses and check down makes him better but those aren't the only reasons.

Patriots game with his arm (agree). Which are the other two?
I don't really know.
If I had to guess, I'd say Chargers and then game 17 vs the Eagles starters (instead of scout team)...lol.
But I have no idea, honestly.
We had a lot of easy games, given our division.

This has had to been one of the easiest years to win games in this division in history.

I was livid when Romo wasn't even given a chance to compete in 16 and basically tossed to the curb like yesterday's trash. I mean Romo had his bad games. But to me,Tony was definitely a smarter QB as well as a better passer. Seemed to make lesser WRs better. Dak should be all world with this talent and he's not. He's an average QB propped up by the talent of the roster. Give him lesser receivers he's below average.
Dak had to work hard to get Jerry's Money. Jerry Dumbo GM Jones loved Romo and gave him his bags with a smile.

Dak needs to get back to 2016 when he was not afraid to win instead of being afraid to lose. Jerry Dumbo GM Jones has a way of bringing down a QB.

I supported Romo til the end. I will support Dak to the end as well as long as he is a Cowboy. Both ticked me off at various points in their career. Bringing up who is better is beating a dead horse but for the sake of the question, I will say I take *prime* Romo over Dak right now as it stands.
