We are over the cap even with Neal's expiring contract.

i thought Neal was practically JAG by season's end. Not one that will be missed.

See what becomes of the new coaching staff. Same scheme players or different scheme players, etc.
An insider hired DC or outside hire DC.
but no matter what, i would think Neal would have to be a minimum dollar vet on a one year deal. ..at the very least.

3, 1, then 2.

2 is only an option is he signs for chump change. He did appear to make plays as the season went on.

Remember when him and Jaylon looked to be an up and coming LB duo? Lol good times.
Yep, thought we were set at LB for 10 years, sigh.....

Contrary to what many have said on this board he played pretty well this season and made what could’ve been a game changing tackle last Sunday. If we can find a way to bring him back I would.

Time to cut bait with this guy. He is one you can tell will drop off mightily especially if he gets a second contract somewhere. You don't want to be that "somewhere." He is playing hurt and just trying to last through another contract. Fogettabouttiiitttt.....

Don’t offer anything. Let him test the waters, telling him to check back with you.
The goal is to replace him with a better, younger LB, but you need a FA, him or someone else, onboard in case the draft doesn’t fall for you.

Played somewhat better this year, but the Front Office made the right call and dodged a major bullet not picking up the option on his contract for next year.

So we basically have 3 options:

1. Let him go in free agency.

2. Offer him a contact long term.

3. Offer him a one year prove it type deal.

I am leaning towards option # 3.

Maybe one year at 3M with incentives?

Curious what other here think ?

Money will be tight with the cap, so that's a factor to consider as well.

let him go
Draft cheaper and better LBs in rds 3-5

He made some good plays. But so often he's missing tackles and trailing guys because he went the wrong way.

I think he's out of the league in two years

If the Cowboys had been able to score on that last drive then LVE would have been one of the game heroes for that 3rd and 1 stop.

LVE actually had a few impressive stops that game. I'm not saying it erases a season of mediocre play but he was trending up towards the end of the season.
