Dak is better stock than Winston.Look what Payton did with Winston. Payton is a significant upgrade over MM, but he will working with Dak so expectations should be much lower.

Drew Brees had something natural that Dak willnever have. All the great quarterbacks have this. It’s decisive and quick almost spontaneous decision making. No hesitation. Able to make 3 to 5 reads in seconds. Peyton Manning was a prime example of this. Drew Brees very close second. This is what distinguishes great quarterbacks from average quarterbacks. It isn’t just their physical ability. Tom Brady is also a very decisive and quick decision maker. This comes from a natural God-given ability as well as countless hours studying the game. Dak has neither! He’s a decent quarterback but he’s indecisive and he hesitates for that half a second. That half a second is all the difference between being a great quarterback and an average quarterback.Give it another year, and Sean Payton will be Dak's coach. Look what he did for Drew Brees.
Jerry just didn't build good enough teams around him.In all fairness Romo was a fluke play and they horrible call in Green Bay away from at least two Super Bowl appearances. Flip both of those plays and he probably has at least one ring on his finger. Romo played very similar in style to Patrick Mahomes. The key differences, Kansas City has a complete team built around their quarterback. Romo could have easily been “that guy” on the right team.

Tony Romo won't even sniff the Ring of Honor...
You do realize Dak is in a new offensive era than when Romo started his career. Around 12-14 Romo's picks were way down.Romo had a lot of win or go home season ending throws that some must have forgotten. And some were when we had the lead.
First 6 seasons Romo threw 22 more INTs.

Not sure Minny would prefer Dak over their guy….pretty much identical statistically…and their guy costs less. Both Romo and D4K have been the best QBs that we've had since Troy Aikman's glory years of the 90s. We are lucky to have them play at such high levels for UDFA (Romo) and a 4th round pick (D4K). They both over-achieved and I'm lucky to have them both on our team. We constantly compare an UDFA and a 4th round pick to all of these 1st and 2nd rounders. On what planet do the fans of a particular team absolutely hate the QBs on their own team? How many fans of teams with these 1st and 2nd round bums would be glad to have Romo or D4K on their teams? I know for a fact the Carolina Panthers would. How about Minnesota? Chicago? Tennessee? etc...Point me in the direction of the constructive discussions here. I'm waiting.
There can be a bunch of "what ifs" and yet still during the course of 2007 and 2014, the Cowboys roster was still viewed by many Cowboys fans and sports media as being one of the best teams in the NFL or one of the top ones that could win the Super Bowl. The Cowboys were good enough to get a number 1 seeding. And Romo's best teams in 2007 and 2014 both happened to have a top rushing attack and RBs who were having break out seasons. Murray won offensive player of the year in 2014 and yet for some reasons some act like Romo never had a solid running game behind him. Also after Murray left, lots of people, Cowboys fans included said that his success was due to the Cowboys OL.
But now some are acting like the Cowboys were never viewed as having great OLs, until 2016. When the Cowboys OL reputation started in Romo's era.
Of course....what do you want to Wager?Care to wager on it?
You’re right. We didn’t lose strictly because of Romo or Dak.Both quarterbacks get undervalued because of team breakdowns. We get into these debates about the QB position seemingly in a vacuum, like there aren't a bunch of other positions/players who play a role in winning and losing.
We didn't lose in the playoffs when Romo was here strictly because of Romo, although there were games where he could have played better. We haven't lost in the playoffs with Prescott here strictly because of Prescott, although he could have played better against San Fran.
If quarterbacks like Trent Dilfer, Eli Manning, Brad Johnson, Ken Stabler, Jeff Hostetler and Doug Williams can get Super Bowl rings, then there's little doubt in my mind that both Romo and Prescott are able. They just can't do it with poor defense, a mediocre running game and poor blocking ... but neither did Staubach or Aikman. Both had fantastic defenses, strong offensive lines and top-notch run games.
Those are lame excuses. Hell. Brady often win with less. Eli Manning won with less. The Eagles win with less. Romo wouldn’t have won regardless. He just wasn’t a winner. Which is why he was undrafted.
Romo also made his teammates better. There was several players such as Laurent Robinson and Miles Austin that Romo raised their level of play. You can not name one player that Dak improves their level of play. It is the total opposite of Romo.
