Our sack leaders that season were Jeremey Mincey (6 sacks), Henry Melton (5 sacks), Tyrone Crawford (3 sacks) and George Selvie (3 sacks).

If you believe he wouldn't have been our best pass rusher regardless, then I don't know what to say

Again, completely different situation. He went back to being used like a LB, he would have been taking punishment as a DE with us and he was already showing signs of this being too much for him in 2013. This is hindsight - he was not great in the 4-3 for us, wracking up 6 sacks in 13 games.

Go look how he was being used in the Super Bowl. He wasn't going to be doing that here. We took away what Ware excels at.

Just my recollection, most people around here thought he was done and were ready to move on

The success of 2014 surprised people, so maybe that would have effected people's minds, but most were done with him after 2013
This response doesn't make sense.

I didn't claim people didn't think he was done, and in fact said people questioned whether he was worth the money. And I didn't remotely suggest he wouldn't have still been our best pass rusher. Hell, I didn't say anything about my personal belief about him at all.

What I said was people didn't put the blame for all defensive woes on him. Thinking he is past his prime isn't the same as blaming him for all things wrong with the defense.

----- I come from the DeMarcus Ware tree

Does that mean that you cannot remember one sack of his that actually came at a significant time??? Yes, he is a class act. However, that is exactly what I think of when someone mentions D Ware.

Absolute debacle that the Cowboys couldn't win at least one Super Bowl with DWare.

Dude was too nice! Every team needs a villain who can wreck an offense and throws QBs to the ground or nail them from their blindside. Ware was a great player but lacked the killer instinct.

Yeah, I'm sure he'll be kept out of the HOF for not breaking QBs in half. That's what really counts.

…..who would have thought an innocent, benign thread like this could have brought out the long knives?

Nothing in what you quoted suggests that I think these were *your* thoughts on Ware.

My disagreement with you was how prevalent it was that Ware was done

I don't think it was a few stray idiots, I think it was half the board if not more

That’s because this fanbase is toxic

To this day it was always stupid to get rid of ware

the trick was never about getting rid of ware. It was about adding more talent around ware

i have a feeling they are going to make the same mistake with parsons

Losing breeds toxicity, but you're not wrong.

Sorry, I was looking at one of your messages to another poster about his thoughts on Ware and somehow thought that was directed to me. My mistake on that point.

As for the point about it being a prevalent thought that Ware was done, again, I didn't say otherwise, so that doesn't make a point about what I said. My comment was about the idea that people blamed him for all the defense's problems. Again, thinking he was washed up is not the same as thinking he is responsible for all problems on defense.

He was one of the most physically talented defenders I've ever seen but he just wasn't a leader. That's why people give him ****.

And he never dominated games like he could have. He showed he had the potential to do it against New Orleans after his neck injury. Why he didn't do that every game, who knows. You'll have to ask him.

All I know is this team started turning off in December every year and he was on those teams. Don't like him and will never like him.
