These rankings are silly and meaningless. Not just for dak but all qb's.

Stats are for simple minded fans.
Stats are severely flawed because of the way they compile them.

every qb has a bad game now and then , but the true good ones are consistent in how they play.

Good ones dont have slumps, and they play good in big games win or lose.

Dak started off great, then slowed , then fell off a cliff and never got back to where he was, even though they blew out a few bad teams,
like atlanta, phil, nyg , wash.

But part of his slump can be blamed on kellen and mike as their game plans sucked , and play calling was poor most of the time.

If you look at the SB game, the bengals did ok when they double blocked donald, then rams adjusted to that, and the bengal coaches did not
know what to do lol.
So after that burrows was running for his life and getting sacked. All they had to do was adjust their blocking, and go max protect, keep rb and te
in to block.
That is one example of good and bad coaching, and being able to adjust mid game.

Dak finishes 9th:

Dak's play sunk after a Week 6 calf injury, but his struggles ran deeper than the injury. "I wouldn't say it lingered as long as people gave me the excuse of it," Prescott said on The Rich Eisen Show during Super Bowl week. "I went through a period of time during the season where I just didn't play my best ball."

After Prescott's fast start to the season, his inaccuracy and tentative play made for one of the most inexplicable stories in the entire league. He still mixed in enough boffo games to finish with strong stats, but the bar is higher for Prescott, considering his teammates.
Fair assessment

Have you seen the Jones Boys attempts at drafting QBs? Quincy Carter? Paxton Lynch? Connor Cook?

They fell into Romo and then Dak, despite their best efforts to draft someone else each time.

Be happy with what you have, because expecting those two to grab someone better is wishful thinking. Stephen being slightly more aware than Jerry is all that saved of us from Johnny Manziel. But they went after Lynch the next draft, and Connor Cook, so Stephen being slightly more aware is obviously not enough. God help us.
To be fair,

Lynch and Cook might have turned out just fine if their main job their rookie year was to hand the ball off to a RB that won the rushing title by 300 yards and was First Team All-Pro with the best O-Line in the NFL as protection. Then proceed to do that the next 2 seasons also.

Dak was just lucky enough to be drafted into literally a perfect situation. He was never asked to be the guy because Zeke was clearly the guy. Dak very well could've ended up like Lynch and Cook if he was drafted by anybody else besides maybe 5 teams.

That’s about what I would expect. But a lot of us aren’t willing to settle for the ninth best quarterback.

Can't, unless the rest of the team (or at least parts of it) plays at a No. 1 or No. 2 level. Troy Aikman is a Hall of Fame quarterback, but I'm not sure how many titles he finishes his career with if he doesn't have the league's career-leading rusher and a No. 1 defense.

You do know Zeke was playing with an injury don’t you? And behind poor OL play, a brainless OC, and an injured Dak to some capacity.
Even more reason to bench him then. And it’s very troubling that we didn’t.

If we’re not willing to bench the guy when he’s injured, why would we be willing to bench him when he’s healthy and being outplayed by Pollard?

So you’re even willing to make excuses for complete scrubs who washed out of the NFL.

But Dak playing like a top 10 QB, winning the division and losing in the WC round behind zero run game and 14 Dallas penalties is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!

OH!! So it is a team game.......best OL in the league. Does that transfer to a great running game, einstien?

Nah.....Zeke was magical.

Good God......with EVERY post.

Your consistent. I'll give you that.

Nothing to be proud of......just so you know..

Oh yeah...the offense was RPO.......Dak, since then, has been working in to a pocket passer.......right, coach?

paid like he's elite but plays like a top 15-20 player. whoo hoo. crow on. Cowboys fans have sunk so low.. Guy can't beat any good teams because it's always somebody else's fault on the team. yep he's great

Top 10, just like the OP indicates... and just like NFL players, coaches and front office personnel UNANIMOUSLY believe.

I know it hurts. Dak wins, you lose.

Why don't we rank him on the second half of the season when teams discovered how to render him totally ineffective?
He'd rank in the high 20s at best.
Either they solve it, or you'll be ranking him in the new football league.

Haters only acknowledge one another's lack of knowledge/stupidity. Noticed how @Centex didn't reply. Proof is in the pudding.

Just about every team that made the playoffs had a high ranking QB . Its a shame Trevor Lawrence was the nubmer one pick. Being the best has some dubious privileges.

What difference does it make where one sportswriter ranked him? The fact is he did not play well when it counted down the stretch. He played poorly and he admitted he played poorly. The simple fact is he cannot play that way if the Cowboys are going to win anything.

I dont know , Rush was 1-0 ......undefeated !!!!!!
That was such a strange few weeks. Dak has great game against the greatest defensive mind in football, then Cooper comes in against another defensive guru and makes some big plays throughout and especially at the end. Then Dak comes back after plenty of rest and Denver comes in and puts there foot in his @$$ and it was a rollercoaster after that.
