Is John Ross' combine 40 record at risk?

Just read a tweet that ( wish I could pull it up ) over the last10 years only 2 of the player with the fastest combine time have made opening-day rosters (lol).

Edit ......here it is
My numbers were off a bit but .........

Where would people be comfortable taking this guy?
He is going to go higher than most expect. Former WR turned corner ... keep an eye on the Panthers. Matt Rhule wanted him at Temple and Baylor. Early Day 3 is what I am seeing and likely higher with a 4.2 40

Havent they invested a lot at cornerback already?

Two former 1st rounders in Horn and Henderson.
Horn is solid. Henderson is on the Anthony Brown level.

Drafting this kid means nothing. He's solid depth and will take a year or two to grow.

So he would be a mid or late round flyer then?

Early Day 3 is what I have read from multiple scouts. But if he ends up running a 4.2 he will go at least Round 3 IMO.

He is a super raw prospect. Former WR turned CB and limited reps at CB. Upside is MASSIVE though. Still learning the game and essentially learned to play defense from playing Madden lol

They have Henderson for two more seasons. They could use him and see how he develops and if he does not or they don't want to pay he should be ready to step in.

If he goes to a simple system and they say, Cover this dude or bail, I think he balls out. If it's a complex scheme may take him a few seasons to grow.

So he won’t be there at our 3rd rounder?

Who would be comfortable taking him with our 2nd?

What if we had an extra 2?

I don’t see CB as a need at all with Diggs, AB, KJ and Lewis. And they must think highly of Wright having used a 3 on him….but think about what Quinn could do with 6-4/205, 4.2-4.3 speed and a guy who is a former WR…..wow

Just look at that list, maybe just 1 quality starter, speed is important, but need more then that to succeed.

Probably. Could possibly go around where we took Wright, but probably more of just outside the top 100. I wouldnt be shocked if Dallas takes him in the 4th if he was there. He fits Quinns prototype for CB's

The funny part about that list is they either weren't very good or didn't last very long in the league

Imagine in 1986 (before official record keeping) Bo Jackson at 6'1 225 lbs ran a 4.13 40

Dude one of these years I’d love to see someone run a 4.1, ridiculous speed
