Twitter: SJ makes clear Cowboys won’t follow Rams “all in” plan

This is the annual Cowboys front office off season “process”- tell the fans “we can’t afford good FAs because of the cap and the future”, then dumpster dive for “affordable” FAs, sell every draft pick as a future pro bowler, then act surprised when they either don’t make the playoffs or lose early.

Wash, rinse, repeat. And sell the fans starting in training camp that this is a SB roster.

Meanwhile, teams with a great front office like the rams, bucs, chiefs, packers, ravens, etc. somehow (under the same cap rules Stephen Jones whines about) are able to sign quality free agents and get under the cap. It’s not like this is some kind of state secret to get under the cap.

Shock, cheapskate.

While some of us here have had enough of "the process", and aren't buying what the Jones boys are selling, just pop over to Twitter and you'll see thousands of Cowboys fans already talking Super Bowl again next season.
Some call those fans loyalists and diehards. I guess I got old, because I see them as suckers setting themselves up to be disappointed, again. But who knows? Maybe the 30-year plan will actually come together in 2022?
i think they are more suckers getting set up for the annual disappointment

Yeah. But they’ve won a few playoff games and been to a few Super Bowls.

I’d be happy with that right now
And if they find a QB, which they will because they wanna win now! Unlike....

“….in related news, Stephen mentioned ticket prices will be going up 15-20% across the board.”
Who cares? A normal person cannot afford tickets to his grotesque cathedral. But when they start raising the SRO cost? That should be interesting.

I had conveniently blotted that disaster from my memory. You can kindly try to reproduce with yourself.

I don’t think going the rams route works always. It’s extremely risky and can cripple you. It did work for them and they deserve credit for making that happen but they also have maybe the best coach in the league excluding belichick. I mean they took the risk and they deserve all good things said to them but it had real potential to be a disaster.

now I also think the cowboys can be way too conservative at times and there is a happy medium but the rams way isn’t for everyone and honestly many here who want the “rams all in approach” are the same people who says the team will suck no matter what or are overhyped or aren’t very good - if that’s the case then why would the organization go all in? It can’t be both.

I think the cowboys need to stop running things like a small market team and being way too risk averse but going the rams route? I’m not sure that’s the answer just because it worked for them

It really speaks volumes of how committed they are to putting a true contender on the field. You have a good team right now. Go for it over the next few years. It doesn't take teams 10 years to rebuild anymore. The 49ers are a good example of that.
The 49ers and Rams have rebuilt twice since the Cowboys have been to the NFCCG.

Yep... Don't do a thing in free agency and then start reaching to fill holes with your draft picks. I still think the Kelvin Joseph pick was a reach because they missed on Surtain and Horn in rd 1.

Still can't wrap my head around Jerry and Stephen, seeing how close we are to being THAT TEAM and continue to say" we can't mortgage the future." WE GOTTA HAVE A NOW AT SOMEPOINT WHEN YOU KEEP TALKING FUTURE! Their thinking is just comical. I will give you guys odds the Chiefs, Bills, Titans, and 49ers will make moves where needed and be a better football team.
They have no problem mortgaging the fans future. “Can’t sign those guys…what about our future”?

I’m just bored with this team. Don’t even feel like posting much anymore.

If they don’t care then why should I? They do the same thing over and over and expect a different result.

You are too kind. Its much much worse. Stephen is pre-occupied with bringing back players who come up short as a group every year. He has no interest in figuring out how to make the team better. He has no idea. He lives in such a bubble, that he thinks he already built a winner and now he just has to keep the parts together. It is an insane approach to football.

Other teams are scrambling now to re-configure their rosters to compete and address weaknesses. But thats too much work and uncertainty (due to their own ignorance of the league) for the Jones boys. The easiest thing to do is keep what you got and hope for a better result. Our process is basically the path of least resistance.

Agreed. Didn't the Giants try that approach in 2016? Or something similar to it? Not so much draft picks, but through FA.

I'm not for the sell the farm approach, but they can do something other than the SOP based on what might help this team get better. Based on what this team is now. It's like having a small budget because you're poor, but never changing that budget regardless of your situation.

Dallas will probably approach FA as usual. Then the draft and stay put. Then send them all out there again. Should I expect a different result?

Couldn't have said it better myself, and I didn't.
