Who said he doesn’t suck as a GM? He certainly doesn’t suck as an owner. He’s in the Hall of Fame and has the richest franchise in sports. He built one of the best stadiums and practice facilities in the world. There’s no owner in the NFL more powerful than Jerry. Not trying to defend him, I have some issues with him but he’s not a crappy owner. You claim the other poster isn’t lost? Would you trade our three championships in the 90s for another owner like he would?
He's a horrible owner because he insists on a horrible GM. If you're really that interested in the business aspect, then I guess you're OK w/ the status quo.

You’ll be happy if this thread reaches 20+ pages. You need to take a break. lol
We’re all so proud what the Cowboys have become.

To be honest, the thought has crossed my mind several times to include a poll, converting the thread title into a question, with these two options:

  • February 25, 1989
  • Some other day that I will elaborate in a post
--but I keep talking myself out of doing it thinking it would be overkill.

Bragging about the Cowboys 5 SBs is like talking about how hot your wife used to be 25 years ago before 3 kids. Nobody cares!

I have seen it all. I go all the way back to 1960. I have seen all 8 SB the Cowboys have been in and of course the 5 they won. Sadly, there no Cowboys fan under the age of 32 or so that can say they have seen and understood completely any SB. Heck, they have not even seen their team in an NFC Championship game. The first 35 years were so great...so special. The Cowboys were truly at the top....."America's Team." But since Jerry Jones took control of the product on the field from Johnson the team has been bland, ordinary and pretty much a yearly disappointment. It did not have to be this way but Jones ego is so darn big. He spoiled the whole thing.

With all due respect KJJ fans like you are every bit as much responsible for the damage Jerrah has done to this franchise as Jerrah himself because he only listens to people like you telling him he's doing great even when he is not.

Fans like you enable him to feel his obvious shortcomings and failings as a failed GM and yes. owner, are meaningless, and allow him to continue running the Cowboys into the ground.

I have no reason to know whether or believe Jerrah reads these forums, but trust me he listens to talk radio , and when people like you call in and defend him it allows him to say to himself they don't think I'm so bad or incompetent really.after all., or even worse it allows him to believe we don't care ny more about winning than he does really..

The only reason Jerrah wants another Championship is so people will finally see he was the genius behind all of it, a fact that exists only in his own ego-driven imagination. If he loved this team like we do, he at a bare minimum would have fired his GM two decades ago. And If you love this team like we do, you would say yes he should have unequivocally now., Accepting him remaining GM why acknowledging he suck as you say makes fans like you as much of the problem as Jerrah himself.

History is the past. History always matters. If it didn't, no one would care how Jerry Jones has held a death grip on football operations since Jimmy Johnson left because, well, it's history. It's the past. Why talk about it?

I was first aware of the team as a toddler in 1962 - Taylor, Texas (black & white TV- hence my moniker 'Motorola ').
Was old enough to understand the NFL and root for the Cowboys when they ascended to prominence during the 1966 season.
Echo your sentiments about the long drought- but the recent surges of the Bills and Bengals- plus the decade-long deep playoff runs of the Chiefs and 49ers gives me expectation that Dallas will break through over the next 2-3 seasons and reach the top again.

I hope your expectations come true. I am not as optimistic. Just something about the attitude and culture of the organization that concerns me deeply. Schramm/Landry's Cowboys were so focused and improved so much so fast. Jimmy Johnson's teams after the first year were always on the way up. I do not see any of that in the Jones era. The boat seems to be very leaky these days and management seems to be bailing water hard and fast just to say afloat.

At least there’s an honorable legacy, an established tradition and great memories—especially useful when encountered by a strutting, smack talking 25 year old with no such credentials.

Throwing out condescending phrases like “fans like you” kinda detracts a little from the honor of a lifelong fan hood, don’t ya think?

And Cincinnati passed us this year after winning 3 playoff games including an AFC championship.

Cincinnati will never pass the Cowboys on anything that really matters. They’ve been to two 2 Super Bowls in their entire history and lost both in the closing seconds.

No but they’ve been to a couple Super Bowls and several conference championship games.

Here where the Cowboys stand during this era.
rLejiuM.jpg

They’ve been TWO Super Bowl in 41 years and lost them both. What Cincinnati has accomplished over that period satisfies you? lol They haven’t done anything in over three decades until this season. From 92 to 95 while the Cowboys were winning Super Bowls Cincinnati won a grand total of 18 games. Two of their teams went 3-13. Would you trade in our three Super Bowl wins in the 90s to be in Cincinnati’s shoes right now with their owner, HC and QB?

Do you see what you are doing to excuse the lack of production in the last two decades? Pulling up the past has really has no relevancy now.

It is not what other teams have not done, it is what this team has not done in over 25 years.

If you honestly think those SB's are Booger's, then there is little to debate. He was not the architect of those teams, he was the promoter.

Those 3 SB's in 4 years are pretty special but as fans, we've been paying for that early success because this incompetent thinks it's easy and a part time GM can get it done.

The best thing Booger has done as the owner was not just hiring Jimmy Johnson but turning the team over to him and staying out of the way. Once he got back in the way, you see the results.

I’m not excusing anything but you have fans on this board wanting to discount our history because things haven’t gone well the past 26 years. There’s franchises that have never come close to accomplishing what the Cowboys did in the 90s and you have one fan on this board who would give it all away just to have another owner. Lol We’re all disappointed things haven’t gone well the past 2+ decades but only New England has had more success over that period than the 90s Cowboys. You can’t just throw away those championships as if they mean nothing because things haven’t gone well since.

I was responding to post about 49 ers. And for the record Bengals have been in 3 SB’s. But the Bengals weren’t my agenda. That was someone else.
