Foods you ate as a kid but would not touch now

Canned fruit and vegetables, frozen chicken pot pies, bologna and processed meats, Vienna sausages and I focus on organic frozen fruit and vegetables now over fresh because of the handling and shelf life. And well liquor, once out of childhood, nothing but top shelf.

The most interesting change I went through was cheese. As a kid, I would not eat any cheese, nary a morsel and I would not sit at the table if they had one of those green cans of parmesan, the smell made me gag. Now, there are few cheeses that I don't love except ricotta, which is cottage cheese without the lumps. And I grate parm and take nose hits off it.

One thing that mystified my parents and my older son inherited it was my love of all things sour. Loved all pickles, peppers, could eat a jar of pepperoncini when I discovered those and olives and I still do. My oldest son's first word was "pickle" as he'd ram his little walker on wheels into the frig until he got his dill pickle chips. I would eat lemons with salt on them as a kid.

I don't know of anything I ate as a kid that I wouldn't touch now. Food is food. There are a few things I wouldn't touch as a child that I do eat now, things like cantaloupe, beets, broccoli.

I’ll eat anything. Don’t knock those Vienna sausages. Good easy and cheap snack with tobasco if you’re staying low carb. Sell massive packs at Costco and Sams. I put them one notch above Spam on the processed meat scale. :D

Only thing I don’t eat now, I didn’t eat as a kid either, and that’s liver. Just can’t stand the smell. At least I’m consistent.

There is not a thing I ate as a kid that I wouldn't eat now, except maybe liver, but that was such a once a year thing so I don't count it. I still eat Spam, bologna, and other processed meat. I don't eat cereal anymore, but that is because of the price more than anything else.

It's funny, my wife was born and raised in the South, but her mother came from Canada and her father was from Maine, so she wasn't raised "Southern". Some of the foods I eat she thinks are disgusting because she wasn't raised that way. She has learned to make turnip greens that I would put against anyone out there. They are delicious.

only two thing I can think of.....as a kid my favorite thing to eat were hot pockets (I always called em pizza pockets), now they are just very blah whenever I try em out again every couple of years. the other is bananas, used to love em as a kid, cant stand em now, although I usually still like banana flavored stuff. the Strawberry Banana body armor is my favorite.

Did you ever have Mcstuffin pizzas from McDonald's? I used to like those and hot pockets, I won't touch hot pockets now

If I want to I will make my own from scratch

Potted meat
vienna sausages
liver -how did I eat that when I was young
bologna-Unless I go fishing and that is then the only thing I will eat
Two of these for sure: Potted meat, human cat food in a can. Liverwurst, starting to heave just thinking about it.

This...could not pay me to eat Broccoli as a kid..now there are times when I crave it for days.
Broccoli and asparagus Love em both now. Lima beans never could get those down.

Vienna sausages,

I just had a shiver spread up my spine

I use to love oranges but now my stomach can't take them.

my wife is the most finicky eater that has ever existed. She only eats chicken. She will not eat steak or any kind of fish or seafood. In fact, if something is served on the same plate as fish, she will not pick it off. Eggs have to be scrambled to death and brown all the way through it and will spit out hamburger if she bites into and there is a hint of pink. SMH. But she will eat Corn beef hash out of a can and salmon patties out of whatever they come in because she ate it as kid. Who did I marry? needless to say our restaurant selections are very limited.
You married my wife.
