Your preferred choice - Gallup and Schultz or Cooper?

If that's the case, then you give the 5th and don't have to compete in free agency? Why would you do that when you get a legit #1 WR for a 5th rounder? Like I said everyone knew he was getting cut. That made no difference whatsoever. Actually helped because the Browns were the only team that panicked.

How do you know they didn't offer a 5th too?

Schultz and Gallup. Cooper taken away in too many games with drops at inopportune times.

Gallup and Lamb right there with drops at in opportune times while not being as good as Cooper

It's the salary.. it's a problem. LOL Pretty dumb to think it's helping any! And no I'm not thrilled with Dak's contract but that doesn't mean this is OK.

You keep responding with "it's the salary".
Yet, your comments always include a dig on performance.
Pick a lane and stay in it.

Mike Williams just signed for over $20 million per year.
The only difference is his QB is on a rookie contract.

Real question is
Cooper + other TE (so still more expensive and more cap use)
or
Gallup + Shultz

But I get it though. Legit question

It was already out there that we were in trade conversations with teams. Those teams knew that they might have to provide trade compensation for the player. You were competing with other offers and there was a decent chance he would not be released. It’s asinine to thing they wouldn’t have made an offer of a 4th round pick for a player that they really wanted. A top 10 WR if you believe some on this board.

Yeah, I mean some fools actually think Tyler Lockett is better than Cooper.
One guy made a list with Lockett and Moore, but no Cooper.
He had Godwin on that list but not Mike Evans.
Also, no DeAndre Hopkins on this knucklehead's Top 10 WR list.
Talk about asinine... oh, that was you.

According to the mouth breathing, window licking, glue sniffers,
Amari Cooper is the worst player in the history of the NFL...smh

They whine about production until you point out the obvious.
Then, it's the contract until you point out the obvious.
Then, they claim you are saying Cooper is better than Devonte Adams,
Randy Moss and Jerry Rice... lol/smh

Ah, the internet. Where everyone thinks they are smarter than you.
Have a good one, Dre.

Gallup and Schultz. I do not like they tagged Schultz, but if they can find a TE in the draft (Ruckert) then they can let Schultz go in FA next season if he does not prove he really is worth a big contract.
I wished somehow they could have kept Cooper, but his production has not been what I feel a top WR should have been.
He did not take over, or show up consistently in games when he was really needed.

Neither did Schultz. We should go get Gronk if we're gonna run this scheme

That’s because Cooper ain’t that good. He ain’t a top 10 WR. Show me any measurable metric that he’s better than any of those guys. He’s not.

We've done this already.
In the last three years, despite missing games, Cooper
ranks in the top 10 in catches, yards and TDs.

Boom!

Lol right, they're also forgetting right now you're looking at an unproven #1, and a couple average wrs. Who knows what Gallup will command now that his agent knows they don't have Cooper. Gallup just gained all the leverage even while hurt

So his stats matter, but just not for last year. Lol. He’s a top 10 WR in your mind.

The performance doesn't match the salary. I don't care what Mike Williams is doing. He just signed and likely in 2 years he'll be gone too.

Are you saying ONLY last year's stats matter?
You also seem to absolve the QB of any connection with
a WR's stats. Targets matter. If Cooper had 20 drops, you might have
a case. But he didn't. So, you don't.

And this year he was targeted less than 39 wrs. Ridiculous

I agree.
I think you're going to see salaries soar all across the board.
Many good WRs will get Cooper or better contracts moving forward.
Covid sort of froze salaries and cap space (or at least limited both) the last 2 years.
But the NFL has never been stronger. New TV deal etc.
The cap will be 300 mil before long.
A top 10 WR at 20 mil is a lot easier to swallow with a 300 mil cap than with a 200 mil cap.
I just think it's foolish to allow an asset to get away for nothing (and one that cost you a 1st rounder).
You could have moved money around and restructured Coop. Trade him later if you want when his value is higher.
Now you have created another hole on the team that will need to be filled in either FA or the draft.
The Cowboys went all in when they gave Dak that contract, so to me at least, this just seems like another inconsistent move by an inconsistent FO.
Either go all in or blow it up, but they made that decision by giving Dak 40 mil per season.

I'm an NBA fan as well, and I remember a few years back the Warriors had Klay Thompson and Dray Geen coming up as UFA's. Many pundits said they were both max players (starting salary about 15 mil per year back then), and there was no way the W's could keep both. But they did, and as the cap increased both contracts became bargains. Later, people couldn't believe Klay and Dray were making 17-18 per when max guys not as good were getting 25+. They even had the cap space to add KD in FA.

I believe we will regret losing Coop for nothing.

Lol.
So, no comparing contracts.
No considering the QB or OC as reason for low numbers.
Got it. Just hate Amari Cooper... because he doesn't smile,
didn't take a shot, banged your sister, whatever reason. Bad, Amari, bad.
