Despite all the tears Armstrong had one less sack and almost twice as many tackles as Gregory playing the same position

yes and look at what they got paid that’s my point. we’re bickering over 6.5m for a young player coming off of a good season.

a rookie is not going to give you that unless it’s a first round pick

I think what people are upset about is that Dallas' answer to losing a disruptive player is to sign a less disruptive player. You don't get better doing that. There's nothing wrong with signing Armstrong. And there's nothing wrong with what they gave him. The only thing wrong is the Joneses' strategy.

We need the team to get better when it wasn't as good as other teams that are actually using free agency in addition to the draft to improve. We use free agency to tread water at best.

6.5 million per for slop.
Good deal, you have to sign young players with an understanding of the DC scheme, and not every contract nor player has to be a blockbuster.
Armstrong is a depth signing with some possible upside and worth that contract all day.

Clown show continues ...... 6.5 mil a year for a 4th string DE

I actually like Armstrong, but having said that, that’s what happens when you screw around and have nothing left

Sounds like he's starting opposite of Tank. You don't pay a guy 6.5 mil to sit on the bench. Just saying.

I know some don't like him, but he's not a bad player.

I can live with that although it seems a bit high.

But he better not be the "solution" at DE to replace Gregory.
Its always going to be a bit high.
I never seen a contract that seems a bit low.
The Falcons FA LB that went to the Jags went way under the radar,, guess nobody could remember his name to pay attention.
Foyesade Oluokun was a tackling vacuum that would have fit perfect in Quinns D.
Oluokun is a high-impact signing for a Jaguars defense in need of a leader in the middle, and he led the league in tackles this past season and will have a prime opportunity to do so once again on the Jaguars.
Maybe because he was a former 6th round pick that the Jones' had no interest, even a scarier thought is they didnt even know who he was.
3 years 45 million

The Joneses had no interest in that. If his agent had contacted the team and said he'd play on a two-year, $8 million deal as long as they gave him all the free Papa John's pizzas he could eat. They would have offered him two years at $6 million and coupons.

Do not bring facts to the argument. He's making less than half of what Gregory is....and Gregory was barely above average.

So true, just a shame that we plug holes to keep the ship from sinking, rather than going all in and trying to actually be a contender, we pretend as fans that we are contenders, thats some Jerry mind control right there, for the masses.
A few of us see exactly what the Jones' are doing, and that's just keeping the boat afloat, Jerrys boat.
As long as he has the money to keep his ship cruising, Cowboys are a revenue source like no other.
Jerry is living a blessed life and he would like to thank each and everyone of the fan base that remain loyal enough to keep paying for the right to be loyal.
Now go buy a 40 dollar cap and a 20 dollar beer and enjoy the show.

I don't think that's what Jerry thinks they are doing (maybe Stephen). I believe he believes this is the best way to build a contender. Keep your players, draft well and don't overspend in free agency on other teams' free agents. Jerry is very reactionary and this was an overcorrection that was put in place after the bad signing of Brandon Carr (for how much he received).

I say this because we have plenty of evidence in contracts for Elliott, Prescott, Lawrence, etc., that Jerry is not afraid to spend. He's not avoiding free agency because he just wants to keep the boat afloat or he wouldn't give in to the exorbitant amounts demanded by our players (he was even willing to pay $70 million to Gregory). They've just got a poor free agency plan that they are sticking to even though it hasn't been proven to work.

Just keeping it simple here, and that is .. if Jerry and this FO believed in Dak and proved it by the contract, then why would they not be making a bit more aggressive movement, and yes I do understand its preliminary FA period just beginning,
and maybe there is more established that none of us know about at least at this stage, but if your investing in Dak than kick that can as hard as you can.
Did we invest in that contract just to try and remain status quo, just good enough maybe to maintain our division and remain somewhat relevant to the fan base?

A stud DT Michael Pierce just signed for 3 years, 16.5 and would’ve helped give us a true 1 tech. But this is the crap we get
Pierce has been injured the last two seasons. One of the reasons that Zimmer got fired. He signed with the Ravens because that is where he started at. I get the frustration but we need to be patient. I just can’t believe they dropped the ball on Gregory. I thought they should have moved on anyway but the word is he was their number 1 signing. Someone needs to lose their job if that was the plan.
