Dak has ruined this team

They would not have been throwing away 2-3 years by moving on from Dak. They would have been protecting the team’s future from having the roster limited because of a huge contract. Things would have been better if the contract matched the Dak’s level of play, but it’s not even close. Despite the few posters on this board that repeatedly say that the cap doesn’t matter and the team can manipulate the cap to sign whoever they want, we repeatedly see Dallas in a position where they can’t afford to even sign mid-level free agents. 2-3 years spent looking for a good QB would be much better than several years of massively overpaying a QB and a roster that is limited because of that contract.

The same answer (that isn’t one) keeps coming up. “Move on”

To whom? Cooper Rush?

What are you telling CD, Martin, Tyron, LVE, DLaw, and several other vets of this team when you ditch Dak and have no plan B? You throw a year (at least) of their careers away.

Good QBs don’t grow on trees…….and I don’t expect you to go back and look up FA market at the time, but the point stands—we didn’t have much choice.

Back to the OP- let him hit FA and see if we could mitigate his stupid demand (call the bluff) or trade him before the deadline (you know we’d get fleeced) or what?

My main point is stop blaming Dak for doing right by Dak.

the front office are the ones who didn’t hedge their bets and put “some guy” as a back up.

Think about all that we’ve given up for this teams buy in with him

-cap hell for the next decade

-losing out on good players and free agents

-he’s about to get his second coach fired next year

-the 2016 decision to go with him over Romo leading to a first round exit

-squandering the best cowboys team in 20 years with another first round exit due to poor qb play

-cutting or trading players who don’t get along with Dak or we just can’t simply afford them anymore

Think about the following qb option we had the last 2 years

1. Tom Brady
2. Aaron Rodgers
3. Russell Wilson
4. Dashaun Watson
5. Matt Stafford

And Dak makes more money than all of them. I know this isn’t all predicated on Dak but it’s kind of hard not to feel that we’ve been cheated out of something since we signed him to this ridiculous deal

D-4 sorry man...but your views are not evidence based......its not Dak that we lose good players its incompetent front office....please dont get offended

Because we NEVER threw Tony Romo's career away...let alone get him killed.

But we shant do anything remotely like that to CD and all the other players you say we are fing if we let Dak go?

COme on man...that is such a ridiculous notion. jeeze....Dak is your little golden goose....every player relies on HIM for their career? What? What the.,...I can't believe I just read that.

valid points. I still believe Jerry should have gone for Stafford in 2019 when dak's agent refused the 28 million offer , which was absolutely a fair offer for Dak. Other options were also available . but jerry caved to the pressure and gambled away another 6 years , on a decent average QB at best. A 42 mil QB should be much much better than what dak is. Dak is probably ranked 14-16 at this stage. That doesn't translate to elite or to 42 mil.

I don't think the quarterbacks care . They are basically calling the ownership's bluff. They're banking on you paying them anyway, because who else do you have? I don't think owners ask themselves, can I win with this QB? From a business standpoint, it's probably worth the investment even if it means you won't win a championship.

Keep the team popular, relevant, and keep the money rolling in.

That’s begs the question……moved on to whom? Cooper Rush? They’d be a laughing stock and you tell the rest of the team you’re not trying to win. You’ll lose an entire roster that way.

Who indeed? It depends on your goals. If your goal is to be popular, an average to good team never being a true contender, keep that QB. Like I said in a previous post, it's probably the best choice from a business standpoint.

I'll use the Ravens as an example. They should pay Lamar Jackson for the reason I mentioned above. Otherwise what? But they're not winning a championship with Lamar Jackson on another rookie contract, let alone 40M a year. Not unless they can get their defense back from 2000.

it seems you have QBs labeled as “SB YES VS SB NO”…….Stafford was SB no until this year. What’s your criterion? Eli frickin Manning has 2 rings and he’s a career 57% passer.

Dak is enough…..but no- I agree- not the answer. We could with either him, not because of him,

But you have to have enough…..I don’t know how they could have gotten that letting him walk. But that would have been interesting.

I wish they have played hard(er) ball though. The landscape of QBs in the division doesn’t scare anyone. Heck- we should have gone after Fitzmagic, lol.

If that had been the case you know the national media able to characterize us in rebuild for no reason. Plus the dynamic of what I said above, unless they were willing to send the farm to someone for a Stafford, Wilson, etc.

Stafford was super bowl no to who? You won't find me criticizing him in here. Not even when he was on the Lions.

Stafford is a very good QB. Always has been. But he's not Rodgers and he's not Mahomes. Look at what it took for the Rams to win a Super Bowl with him. Do you think the Cowboys can build a team like the Rams exclusively through the draft? It's not going to happen. But that's what they're attempting.

Take the AFC for example. Look at what teams like the Titans, Ravens, and Browns (before the Watson trade) are up against if you don't have an exceptional QB. You have to build a team that makes up for your quarterback. But it gets worse. You have Burrow and Herbert still on rookie deals. I'm not saying it's impossible to win with a good QB, but the odds are so stacked against you.

Bottom line is, there's a salary cap. The team with the better QB is always going to have an advantage. If they're both being paid the same money, the team with the inferior QB has the same amount of money to spend on the rest of their team. Then throw in QBs on rookie deals. They make it harder on everybody because even a not so great QB can be dangerous. But once you pay that QB who is just good. You're probably not going to the SB unless you can somehow get his cap hit to negligible.

Stafford would have been a better option , play wise and cost wise . But Jerry does not have that type of forward thinking . He wanted the Dak experiment to continue and try to win a super bowl with Dak . No analyst sees. Dak as a super bowl QB unless we have an elite defense and many other pieces to complement Dak .

I Agree...Stafford didn't have an Elite defense (anchored by the BEST NFL player) or many other pieces to Complement Stafford. Because for 12 years Stafford proved better option wise and cost wise for Detroit.....:lmao2:

.

Are you saying Dak is better than stafford ????
Stafford languished in Detroit for so long . He would have loved to come home to dallas If Jerry really wanted him . But it was not in the books ..
I wish Jerry learns from his buddy Stan kroenke about bold moves . Heck kroenke uprooted the rams from St. Louis and started anew and won a super bowl in a 3 year transition…

Think about all that we’ve given up for this teams buy in with him

Terrible Reasoning-

-cap hell for the next decade - Could have signed him at 29 and then 33....

-losing out on good players and free agents ....Name some weve signed before Dak

-he’s about to get his second coach fired next year..Dak actually saved Garretts job and extra year

-the 2016 decision to go with him over Romo leading to a first round exit...agree with this but We mad at Dak for going 13 and 3

-squandering the best cowboys team in 20 years with another first round exit due to poor qb play - and he was still 4th on the list as to why we lost. He didnt play well tho. and still put up as many points on San Fran as Aaron Rogers

-cutting or trading players who don’t get along with Dak or we just can’t simply afford them anymore - Who
Amari was overpaid before Dak. So was Zeke.

to think this way for 50 yars....Psychatrist said there is no medicine so far that can help me.....i just drool and say Go-Cowboys...he shakes his head with disgust.....they need to put Cowboy Homerism as a qualified

mental condtion in the psychiatrick hand book DSM......so many of us fit the bill....and maybe Jerry will build an institution for us Cowboy Homers and all i ask the nurses are good and pretty and the cheerleaders

visit us once a week.....and some of us may need xtra hug.....sounds very reasonable to me....hope it flies with Jerry?

I guess we couldn't sign any FA's when Dak was making $500k/yr.? At some point yall will realize how lazy it is blaming Dak all the time.
