I should have listed the year as 2023 instead of next year so it wouldn't have been so confusing. Sorry about that. Yes, the Cowboys have Dak set for a $50 million Cap hit in 2023 and the big $50 million Cap hit for Stafford starts in 2024 so the Rams have the advantage of waiting an extra year to start making hefty restructures. The Cap should be increasing drastically over the next several years due to the money coming from the TV contracts so hopefully the increase in the Cap will make it easire for us to sign guys like Lamb, Diggs, Parsons, etc in the future. Of course, our geniuses in the front office will wait until the last minute to work on contracts (instead of getting our studs signed up after the 3rd year of their rookie contract) and we will end up having to overpay like we always do.

The one thing I like about that little weasel, Howie Roseman, in Philly is that he always gets his talented rookies signed up after year 3. They end up taking a cheaper deal because they get some of their money early and they are not having to play on that smaller 4th year salary. Example: Compare the way he worked Carson Wentz to the way we worked Dak. I know one was a 1st round pick and the other was a 4th rounder. Also, I know Wentz turned out to be garbage but that was not known at the time. Wentz got a reasonable team friendly extension after his 3rd year. Our geniuses could have worked off that Wentz contract and got Dak signed with probably a few more bucks. But no, we negotiate and end up letting him play on the 4th year of his rookie contract and then negotiate more and have to give him the franchise tag in his 5th year. Then our backs are against the wall going into the 6th year because another franchise tag is astronomical and a killer to our Cap (with the decrease in Cap dollars due to Covid) so we end up having to sign him to this ridiculous contract because no one trusts Jerry and company to actually find another QB..

Agree, Dak should have been sign a lot earlier than he was.

That's completely reasonable. I would say though, we have a history of jumping on some early contracts and getting bit in the behind. Miles Austin, MB3, and Tyrone Crawford all come to mind.

You see Jerry is the master of over correction. Once he makes a mistake and finally rights it he goes so far the opposite direction it becomes counter productive.

As far as the Rams actual cap im fairly ignorant. I do know they have a number of big deals to the likes of Cupp, Donald, Ramsey and Stafford off the top of my head. So I can't imagine they are doing better than us as far as cap management.

ONE MONUMENTAL difference is the guys they paid are all top players at their respective positions. If you're gonna pay big money that is the way to go.

I can't believe he hasn't signed yet. They must want him to trade salary for the allure of a Super Bowl run.

not think the same but if you are off the charts negative like 100% about a team you are NOT A FAN..you may have been fan at one time but no linger now defined a hater ie anti fan but good try. Eagle green sticking out form that shirt brah,,hide it oh you cant..
You tell me what’s there to be positive about? It’s the same thing for 26yrs.Do just enough to be mediocre so stupid fans keep spending their hard earned $ while the Jones’ are laughing at us while they continue to fill the family biz pockets w/ $.Nobody loves the Cowboys more than me,as I will continue to watch and tape every single game. But will never spend a dime on them as they have pulled the wool over stupid fans eyes for long enough.

don't be, go stick your head in the sand and find another hobby or lifestyle!

obviously if you cant "deal" and also understand that this team is not like any team from 26yrs ago nothings the dame its new year and each years one off and fans who keep being upset an lumping them all together *** if its one long 26yr stretch needs to find a new thing. Go be happy because following something that makes you miserable is unhealthy,.

sports are series of one offs, each years new year and if you see it that way its easier to enjoy. Game frustrate me like anyone else having disappointing years is irritating but one they are over time to rest and look forward to the next..if you or anyone else ios incapable its time to move on..

seriously, this incessive negativity about the off season and upcoming season 6months before game is to be played is ridiculous and sad..

Negativity will continue as long as the Jones’ are in power. What’s ridiculous and sad is you have no passion for your team and obviously don’t mind being taken advantage of.

If you bothered to read my entire quote it was comparing our cap situation to the Rams and the fact that we would have to start working on Dak's $50 million cap hit a year earlier than the Rams will have to do with Stafford. I never stated that Dallas or the Rams would have to actually take on those cap hits in there entirety for that one year. You took one sentence out of my quote and spun it into something entirely different from what I was trying to express.
The rams just went ahead and structured it that way. The Cowboys like to have the option every year.

Agree, Dak should have been sign a lot earlier than he was.

The Cowboys tried to resign Dak for two years prior and couldn’t get it done. Dak and his agent knew exactly what they were doing. They were asking for the moon (those previous two years) knowing the Cowboys wouldn’t offer it. This way they didn’t look unwilling to negotiate, but also pushed it to FA like they wanted to all along.

and again been 30 years and with SJ and the rest of the family will be another 30 so please knowing this the right choice is GO AWAY..its not for you..let it go or go away. take your Debbie downer loser attitude with ya.

you think chiefs fans were like this i doubt it but it took them 50years to get back, how about the eagles 60 years to get just one, 31 years for the Bengal's to get back and finally win one. Many more have longer droughts and at least Jones has 3 ,yes THREE rings to sit on while we wait for the next..

.i mean fans stick with the teams and have renewed hope yearly until it finally happens. Get over it.. being upset negative irritated and unhappy is choice its not the Jonses ITS YOU! you choose to be miserable..sad really ..

There's plenty to say about @blueblood70 if you so desire....but "no passion" isn't on that list.

No shortage of that.
100 bro.. passion doesn't have to be negative does it LOL I'm pumped with passion some call it geeked, hyped, etc etc

these tools think passion mean being upset 24-7 angry etc better go look up the definition. you choosing to show your passion by 1-00% being upset 24-7 vs looking forward to each season is a choice il take the healthy choice...

you even go to game with me you will see passion, untapped raw emotion good or bad DURING a game post game but as we get closer to the next its reset new game new emotion same with each seaosn.,.. it doesn't have to be negative,,lmao those that think so are simply miserable people who cant help themselves.

NE last year paper champions went one and done same as us.. we saw the dream team we saw the NYG giants take every great defensive player one year to get o 10-6 then fall off the map..if you need the offseason to be full of huge names to be happy you are delusional...

Baooy Bug time coveted Wagner is still here a month into the FA season but the the Jonses family are wrong for not paying him yet how about the other 31 teams this dudes still available means he not as coveted as he or you believe.. hes overvaluing himself early and now will have to settle choose team over money..

You'd think this team was 4-12 last year.

I really do get some level of frustration, but as Bob Sturm said yesterday, this fan base does not really know what a truly awful season is.

With our starting QBs not out, the low bar for the Cowboys has been 8-8 in the last 17 years with several division titles

Of course, we all want better. But it really is relative. This franchise is run better than at least half of the other....we just want it to be better than that.

The 2015 season was pretty rough. Coming off a 12-4 season in 2014 where we won a playoff game and then lost to GB in the next round (Dez caught it). I was expecting huge things for us in 2015. Then Romo goes down and we end up going 4-12 with Weeden, Cassel, and Moore at QB. That was an awful season watching awful football.

However, when I start feeling bad I just look at what the Giants have become over the last decade. 10 years without a division title or playoff win. Only 1 appearance in the playoffs and they were totally throttled in the game. In the last 5 years they are tied with the NY Jets as having the worst overall win-loss record. 9 straight losses to Dallas with Dak as the starting QB.
