Oh really let's take a look...
1. Resigned Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn = Win
2. Reworked Lawrence's contract = Win
3. Franchised Schultz because they had to because of Jarwin's injury = Win
4. Got rid of a penalty feast of an O-line in Connor Williams = Win
5. Resigned a two solid safeties in Wilson and Kearse = Win
6. Traded Cooper who is injured a lot, disappears in road games, and they save cap space = Win
7. Let a headcase in Gregory walk who get more offside penalties than sacks =Win
8. Restructured both Dak Prescott and Zack Martin's contracts to save 22 million in cap space =Win
9. Let go of an aging kicker who misses a lot of chip shots = Win
So if this is a horrible off season then I'd love to see what a good offseason looks like because so far they've made a lot of changes for the better.
Think you are optimistic about some of those moves.
Getting rid of Cooper and allowing Wilson to walk (two moves I don't have a major problem with) only work if Gallup and Washington are at least equal to the task. Considering Gallup is coming off surgery and may not be ready to start the season, it's hard to believe that will be the case. So it's possible that we'll be forced to us an early-round pick there, taking away from the chance to improve others.
Replacing Gregory with Fowler is a wash at best and probably a downgrade based on Gregory's play before he got hurt. He was consistently getting into the backfield and being disruptive.
Letting go of Zuerlein is fine if we replace him with a kicker who isn't going to miss a lot of chip shots. Right now, we've replaced him with a kicker who hasn't made an NFL roster.
Cutting Collins falls into the same category as the rest of these. The move isn't a bad move IF something is done to either balance it or make the team better. Instead, right now our starting LG is a player who couldn't hold down the spot and keep that "penalty feast" in Williams on the sideline. We could get better there in the draft, but again, we're just treading water by using picks to improve areas that we could improve with fairly cheap FAs.
The horrible offseason isn't because of who Dallas decided to get rid of, it's because the Cowboys have done nothing to get better than they were last season when they were not good enough to get past the first round of the playoffs.
