In an alternate history we draft Ramsey instead of Zeke and things would be very different.

Dak doesn't have Zeke winning the rushing title by over 300 yards and being 1st team all pro and riding that wave to the #1 seed their rookie year.

What happens with Dak if he doesn't have the best RB in the NFL for his first 3 seasons? Romo surely gets his spot back in 2016 and Dak is now the back up? Does he ever get a chance to be the guy? Would he even be in the league right now?

What happens with the defense? Zeke made the Cowboys better in the short term, but Ramsey would have been the better guy long term. Zeke is now washed while Ramsey still plays at a pretty high level.

We would not have those horrible Zeke or Dak contracts right now. We'd have Ramsey on a big contract, but he'd be much better value than both Zeke and Dak.

Looking back, it's clear the Cowboys made the wrong choice.

Even if no one knows what would have happened, I agree with you.

Basically, the decision to draft a RB with such a valuable pick was a completely insane one. Regardless of who we would have taken instead of. But what certainly weighs even more heavily is Ramsey and his availability back then.

For me it was clear that Romo's career was coming to an end. already the year before. the decision to draft a RB was because our FO thought that was the last piece of the puzzle. That was a very big mistake that is now costing us. and I believe that a capable GM could have seen this even then. And yes, we wouldn't have the problem also that we don't have a player at position QB#1, but invested a lot of money there.

I call BS on Ramsey. Cowboys said something more like they would consider him at #4.

I wonder how you can make that kind of statement.

Were you there when the conversation between Ramsey and the FO took place? If so, you have Audio recordings of it ? It would be interesting to have first-hand information.

They probably thought Elliot was going #1 overall.......

the NFL had been doing pretty well with not overvaluing running back in the draft for several years until Gurly went in the first round the year before Elliot.

And that’s somehow a bad thing? o_O

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are taking an $18 million cap hit for a washed-up, used-up running back.
I didn't say that I wouldn't take Ramsey over Zeke that year, it was a no brainer. You don't take a RB that high. But it doesn't change the fact that Ramsey, while very good, is still overrated.

What a ridiculous post.
I said I called BS on it and what was could have been said.

Then you make up something completely stupid.

Agree! This is very easy to dispute and deny. He gave a pretty detailed account of what teams were saying. As someone said earlier teams lie so I could easily see them telling him they trying to hide their new toy, Zeke love

A RB fell to them at 4!!! What a score!!

One thing they didn't spend enough time on with him was just why his father quit his job and moved to Columbus. When I first heard that, I thought red flag and I had never heard about that happening before. The other thing I learned about him was he was in line for academic scholarships if he didn't go with the football. That was different and intriguing.

Little harsh for a legit response Jazz. JMO. The guy is claiming it in the video and teams lie. Not a stretch

If the Cowboys drafted Ramsey, I would think the team would have drafted the big man (Derrick Henry) from Alabama in the second round. Dak would be even better.

I don't know the reason behind it, but Henry didn't crack 1,000 yards until his third season. (1,059) He may not have helped as much as we think.

I have no problem with the pick at all. The extension with two years left? Yep, problem.

I wouldn't have a RB in a 2nd contract, they're too plentiful, just ask Mike Shanahan. And that was when RB's were actually valued a lot more.

Put that money and 2nd contracts in those big uglies opening holes. Ya got holes, ya don't need an All Pro RB.

I was against drafting the position at 4, not so much Elliot. But the jones boys have their ideas of value........probably having more to do with jersey sales than winning.

If he’s the best cornerback in the league, how is he overrated?
