Emmitt's record remains safe

I can't see it being broken with the current advantages offenses have passing the ball, generally short lifespan of RBs/the rare chance of a generational RB coming into the league and lasting into their mid to late 30's and the current disadvantages teams have paying RBs long term.

It's going to be safe for a very long time. The game has changed so much between becoming a passing-orienting league, teams using a young, platoon of cheap backs vs. a workhorse as well as fullbacks going the way of the dinosaur that the record won't realistically be broken for at least another 25 years until we see another iteration of the fundamental game elements.

Derrick Henry? He's barely a 1/3 of the way there on six seasons - anyone really think he can hold up another 12 years? Nick Chubb, you got another 14 1,000 yard seasons in you? I won't even bring up Zeke after this sentence.

The last great hope died with AD's career and injuries.

The only way someone will beats his record is it the game completely changes back to that type of game. Highly unlikely that is going to happen with fantasy football, gambling ect. Everyone wants passing and points. Emmitt will remain the king. Back when football was football.

Frank Gore is probably the more mysterious NFL careers i've ever seen.

What has to be the most "quiet " non-splashy career ever as his career numbers are vastly overlooked and i believe if the question was asked around, his name would
never come up as recognized as one of the all time great RBs' in the NFL; such as Sanders, Emmitt, Dickerson, Faulk, Bettis, Campbell, Thomlinson. Thurman, Allen, Payton, Dorsett, Harris, etc.
and he wasn't a guy that was in the trade rumors,.. just left and came as FA here and there ..

Never seemed like the NFL network hero of the week or the year. ..

i just did not see the amount of interviews and documentaries on Frank Gore as i have even with the likes of Bo Jackson, Christian-Nigerian nightmare- Okoye, Chris Johnson, Natron Means, etc.

Did he ever lead the league in rushing yards or all purpose yards ?

What about when they start playing 20 games a season?
Does not matter how many they play. The body will not hold up with the size, speed and strength of todays athlete. Heck, Emmit could not even repeat today what he did yesterday. The size and speed makes the collisions more violent. RBs burn out not because they are not as big or tough as Emmit or Barry...the burnout because they washed up due to the violence. And sure, they have taken the violence out of the game for the QB....but the RB is still fair game.

Emmitt’s record is going to be tough to break.

Not at Brady’s 35 playoff wins level, but still extremely impressive.

No, but in his best year he competed against LT who won the rushing title (2006). The most fascinating fact about his career is how he overcame 2 ACL tears in the same knee and lasted that long.

It’s very rare that any RB can stay healthy and be productive long enough to get there any time soon. I’d never say never because one day the nfl could change and go back to a run oriented game but not any time soon. The style of game today makes it hard
Teams not wanting to pay big money to a RB makes it hard. Being able to play a whole career behind a good run blocking oline makes it hard
It may fall someday but it likely won’t be in my lifetime

The backs are not that much bigger but, the d-lineman and line backers that are running them down are. Gonna be tough to ever break it. Perfect timing.

He probably won't get the recognition. Recognition sometimes comes from where you play as much as how well you played. Bettis is an example of that. I don't think Bettis is anywhere close to the other backs you listed, but his name is out there because he played in Pittsburgh. He had a career 3.9 yards per carry average. That went down to 3.4 ypc in the playoffs. He was good, but not at an all-time great level as those others in my opinion.
