What about when they start playing 20 games a season?
#22 showed up every day - something that's even more astoundingDoesn't matter. It's about staying healthy and getting carries.
Does not matter how many they play. The body will not hold up with the size, speed and strength of todays athlete. Heck, Emmit could not even repeat today what he did yesterday. The size and speed makes the collisions more violent. RBs burn out not because they are not as big or tough as Emmit or Barry...the burnout because they washed up due to the violence. And sure, they have taken the violence out of the game for the QB....but the RB is still fair game. What about when they start playing 20 games a season?

Frank Gore is probably the more mysterious NFL careers i've ever seen.
What has to be the most "quiet " non-splashy career ever as his career numbers are vastly overlooked and i believe if the question was asked around, his name would
never come up as recognized as one of the all time great RBs' in the NFL; such as Sanders, Emmitt, Dickerson, Faulk, Bettis, Campbell, Thomlinson. Thurman, Allen, Payton, Dorsett, Harris, etc.
and he wasn't a guy that was in the trade rumors,.. just left and came as FA here and there ..
Never seemed like the NFL network hero of the week or the year. ..
i just did not see the amount of interviews and documentaries on Frank Gore as i have even with the likes of Bo Jackson, Christian-Nigerian nightmare- Okoye, Chris Johnson, Natron Means, etc.
Did he ever lead the league in rushing yards or all purpose yards ?
Emmitt Smith’s all-time rushing record withstands another challenger as Frank Gore retires
It’s very rare that any RB can stay healthy and be productive long enough to get there any time soon. I’d never say never because one day the nfl could change and go back to a run oriented game but not any time soon. The style of game today makes it hardI can't see it being broken with the current advantages offenses have passing the ball, generally short lifespan of RBs/the rare chance of a generational RB coming into the league and lasting into their mid to late 30's and the current disadvantages teams have paying RBs long term.
