anyone trying to make comparison doesn't understand the hierarchy of how players at each position effect games.its not even close having a hybrid OLB/ILB type that can play all over the defense and hes effecting every play his on the field either directly or indirectly when the OC has to take 2-3 players to block him and opens up other players to make the play,. compared to what a TE who was picked way higher then he should have and might have sold career but no way a TE can be as transformative as a player like MP.
Happy with how it fell for us!

He was labeled with character issues before the draft. Some draft analysts considered him a me first guy. Could they be wrong? Absolutely, but when he goes to a wwe event and comments "beat my current contract and I'll sign up right now", one has to wonder if those critics are correct.
That was troublesome
Hopefully just immaturity speaking

Emmitt had an outstanding career for us.
All time NFL leading rusher.
Yep 900 plus yards as a rookie was very solid
and yet zekes was 1600 and Zeke gets throttled around here zekes career was thrown off course in 19 by KM the oc and the changing schemes. if you look at the YPC for their careers, their career best vs career lows they are very much a like. Zeke would have thrived on those 90s teams, hes every bit as good as ES if not more athletic and faster, yes faster Zeke now his alleged lack of speed is as fast as ES coming out of college LOL

Hard to compare careers.
Emmitt had such a dominant OL to run behind.
The thing about Emmitt was his durability.
Very rare for running back.

and zeke in 7 years ahs missed 2 games die to injury, yes very hard to compere not only the OL but it was run fiorst league and when Zeke was the focal point 2016-2019 he was the at the top of the league and having a great career. He gets far too much hate around here.

ES held out for money his rookie year, held out for his next deal ,and got a legacy contract ie was way overpaid late in his career when it was apparent he was done then left and played 2 less then stellar seasons at AZ.

Just saying..

I didn't like parsons coming out and would of been sick if the eagles took him. He fits your scheme and has been a game changer. I can only hope he regresses or becomes the locker room cancer I thought he would be. I did love Devonte smith but I'm not sure he can hold up with his slight frame. The draft fell perfectly for the cowboys, they got a great player and an extra 3rd round pick from a division rival, and screwed another division rival in the process. Not sure the 1st round could of went any better for you guys.

Parsons is a beast, there's no denying it. But on the bright side, you guys got what I think is a great WR in Smith. As opposed to the crap we got after you jumped in front of us to take Goddard.

Don't worry about Smith's light frame. His talent and what's between his ears is what matters. WRs with small frames have done well in the past. Mike Quick, our own Drew Pearson, CD Lamb, and Cliff Branch for the Raiders to name a few. As long as he has no fear he'll be fine.

I'm still in shock Parsons slid to us. That's a lot of dumb teams.
I think while his measurables wowed a lot of personnel guys, he did opt out and the question was the same as it is with Jordan Davis. Why didn't Parsons start more games in his last year and why didn't David play more after being touted as a Heisman candidate?

I think some GM's and DC's had ?'s about how to play Parsons, is he the standard LB or an edge rusher. I think the GM and DC of the Cowboys still have that ?.

Still love me some Emmitt !
That Giants game where he played with a separated shoulder was one of the toughest games I have ever witnessed in my 47 years as a Cowboys fan!

That was a slick move dropping down 2 spots and gaining a 3rd.

I'm pretty sure we had both Parsons and Rashawn Slater high on our board and would've been happy with either of them at 12.

The question is do they Ware him out without enough help? That has been the MO since Booger took over, he has no concept of defense.

Parsons needs help just like the Rams got for Donald, the Giants for Taylor and the Chiefs for Thomas.

Landry knew Lilly couldn't carry it so he helped him out just as Johnson did his front 7. Harvey and Randy helped make each other to the point of being Co MVP's of the SB.

Nowhere is it more evident that this brain trust does not know how to build a defense because the GM applies the star status to a D player. It's not about a "war daddy", it's about a war clan.

Aaron Donald, Ray Lewis and JJ Watt are 3 of the outstanding D players in the last 15 years. But look at what their management put around them.

So many great Emmit games, how about the one in 92 when he ended the Eagles streak of holding RB’s under 100 yd rushing.
The Eagles game when he ran for 200 plus yards in 93.

Impossible to know right now. LVE looked like the second coming of Brian Urlacher his rookie year. You never know whats going to happen. The retrospectives are best done 3-5 years after the draft.

TE is a position you just don't waste a 1st round pick on. Just not anywhere near as important as a super skillset Defender. It's not even close as far as positional value.
