It's not about them as much as the price to play with the QB. Is Carr worth 41.5M a year?
These teams have two options, grow their own like the Jets and Browns have been doing or do what the Browns finally did, pony up for a more proven player. The Broncos decided to go back to that vet well a second time.
Murray is just like Prescott and Carr, he is good but is he good enough? And do they run the risk of changing and not getting as good?
The difference in Tier 1 and Tier 3 is a huge difference. I think CLE thought Mayfield is a 3 so they were willing to take the chance, same with DEN and Lock. Tier 2's are all going to get 40M a year.
Agree...... the thing is that its rare for a tier 1 qb to ever be available if you didnt draft the guy. There are always exception, like Payton Manning, but some thought his career was over. The Broncos gambled on his neck and were rewarded.
The Seahawks are just in total rebuild mode. They sucked with Wilson and decided to get a huge haul for him... and IM not totally sold on him. Will be very interesting to see how he does in Denver. He is loaded with skill position players in denver.
Carr is solid.... nothing more and yep, 40 million is now the going rate. Clearly not tier 1.
Grow their own? The jets havent had a top guy in my lifetime. Richard Todd was ok then Kenny O'Brien was solid, but basically the Jets have been struggling to find THE guy my entire life.
Browns havent had a stud QB since Bernie Kosar. Landing that guy is so damn hard and we have a guy, a guy thats ok, but surely has not proven to be THE GUY yet.
