Below are just a few of the many, many stupid and moronic comments made by the laziest executive in professional sports, Stephen “Giggles” Jones. In light of SJ’s moronic comments today about “Super Bowls not being won in the off season”, it’s worth remembering two things:
  1. He’s been saying dumb things for years.
  2. We better hope when JJ meets his maker SJ wants to hire someone to run this thing.
Here’s a walk down memory lane with links to the original stories. Each link is prefaced by an SJ actual quote.
This is a very incomplete and short list. It could three times as long, I just wanted to post a few. Is there an NFL executive this arrogantly lazy and stupid? If so, they’re probably fired in short order.

Stephen Jones is a complete embarrassment. I’m not a JJ fan. But at least he earned the right to own this team. SJ’s qualifications amount to DNA. Lord help us if this man ever completely takes over.

Nepotism rarely is a good thing.
I think this is a prime example of why most companies don't allow it.
DNA should never be a qualification.
There is an inherent conflict of interest.
You gonna fire your child, spouse, in law ect???

Nepotism is defined as favoritism shown to relatives by those in power, such as special treatment in hiring. Studies show that nepotism results in bias in decision-making, unfair treatment and losses to company’s performances and a destructive effective on the organizational culture in the long term. Sound familiar?

Here’s a good article about the negative influences of nepotism:

One of the dumbest things Stephen ever said was a few years ago after he was told about Troy Aikman’s criticism of the offense, he said anyone can play armchair QB. I guess he forgot Aikman was a Hall of Fame QB. Lol

With all due respect Bob, I think the only dumb comment there is the one about Jerry leading us to a championship.

He should be worried about older fans leaving, you see it all the time on this forum with people giving up on the team. And he’s right, you’re usually overpaying for free agents, at least the big names. The other ones are just lip service. Not like he’s going to come out and say we haven’t built a championship team or that we’re not in the fight. LOL

I think it’s going to get real ugly once he’s the main guy in charge. At least Jerry knows how to market and takes chances on players, good or bad. This guy seems like the type to wait for things to come to him, rather than being aggressive. If he’s smart, he will bring someone in who knows what to do. But I really doubt it… he’ll probably get another son/nephew/niece or even Jerry Jr. to help him out. I’m afraid this this once storied franchise will lose a ton of fans.

Yes we'll he overpays his own free agents as well. I fail to see the difference, except the outside ones usually have better resumes.

It is very similar to Royal rule in the old days, rule by bloodline.

anyone with good sense at age 80 would step down and let their kid who is getting old, take over and just advise him.
But jerry cant and wont give up that silly title lol. He is like the old kings who stayed king till they died, instead of handing it over to their heir and helping them
in that role.

I wondered about jerry back when he got the team, because he insisted on being called owner , president, and GM of the dallas cowboys lol.
He wanted all 3 titles ! lol and I thought wow this guy has a huge ego.

The jones boys dont like and cant handle criticism. From anyone. They are smarter than everyone else in the world, and are perfect, so they feel
anyone who would criticize them is simply inferior and dont understand football

A lot of fans are on the edge even as we speak.
Us old timers have too much time and loyalty invested to leave.
The young fickle fans are not gonna tolerate a perennial loser.

I don't know if I want to laugh or cry. Maybe both. It's like we have Homer Simpson as our GM.

The latest gem is noteworthy.... "We're not done in free agency".

Have they even started? There's nothing left but crumbs so why bother wasting your time now. If they were serious about improving the team they would have been busting their butts the second the season ended back in January. But apparently this bitcoin thing was higher on the list of priorities.

I used to go out of my way to catch every Jerry or Stephen interview in the hopes of catching a tidbit of info on a player of interest. I know go out of my way not to catch them speaking. Just turns my stomach.

Financially nepotism has worked out for the Cowboys. They turned a million dollar investment into a billion dollar empire that will take care of the Jones family and friends for generations. The reality is the Cowboys have won 3 Super Bowls with the Joneses in charge.
