Linderbaum/Williams(Turner) or Green (Johnson)/Biadasz?

I don’t know man Kiper and McShay have Green/Zion low, second round picks in their mock drafts. The only person who is really high on Green is Voch. Dane through a big hint out on Plug and play that we should not be surprised if the Cowboys pick Raimann when Cavanaugh traded down in their mock draft. Broaddus does not think much of either Green/Zion as he has then both graded a pure second round prospect. Look at NFL.com the draft grades of the guards are real close. The draft nicks that like Zion rave about his intelligence not his football abilities.
I believe both will have high 2nd rd grades by the team, where there may just be 15-18 1st rd graded players. At 24, we will most likely be drafting a 2nd rd player. Raimann certainly could be the pick as they have shown tremendous interest with him.

This draft is going to be fun. It appears the Cowboys have not given the insiders any information for once. Similar to last year. Supposedly they knew that Surtain and Horne would be gone by 10.

Frederick was around 312-315 during the combine and workouts. Linderbaum seems to be around the 290 threshold.

I think the difference is, Linderbaum is 3 inches taller then Fredbeard was. That is why Frederick to me appeared much more stockier than Linderbaum ... the extra 20 pounds and 3 inches shorter.

Yeah, no.

Linderbaum weighed in at 296 lbs at the Combine which was few pounds heavier than his listed college weight. At his Pro Day he checked-in at 302 lbs. Linderbaum is also 6'-2", lol.
.
Frederick measured just under 6'-4" at the Combine.

Google is just fingertips away...

Two Words...Shotgun Snaps.

He can't do it. He played about a dozen snaps at OC last season and the QB was under center for ALL of them. The Cowboys rarely ever run back to back plays from under center and definitely not several consecutively.

In college he used a reverse grip on the ball when he played OC. Basically with his hand under the ball. That actually works well for under center snaps; however, for shotgun it is equivalent to an underhand 'granny shot' in basketball. No possibility of a spiral. The shotgun snaps just floated back to the QB.

For the Cowboys, he did snap with a conventional grip, but he didn't do shotgun snaps in the regular season.

Matt Farniok looked good in the limited snaps he played during the regular season at both OC and OG.
- He has the size (6-5, 311 when drafted), good arm length for an interior OL (33-1/4") and his 3-cone, SS, vert and bench were all very good.

I agree with you about Farniok. From what I saw last season, including the 2nd Eagles game, I think Farniok has showed enough for me to think he can compete for the starting C role in 2022. I know the Eagles game was mostly backups but Farniok showed some traits I want on the field.

I think Biadasz and Farniok are enough so the Cowboys do not have to go with a C in the 1st 2 rounds of the draft. But if the Cowboys get Zion Johnson at 24 and a capable LG later they can let Zion compete for C, or they can let him play LG. Either way it is an upgrade.

I worry that Linderbaum will have similar anchor issues as does Biaz.

I don't think so, but I understand the concern. Jason Kelce, one of the best Centers in the league is only 6'3" 295. Also, I think Biadasz's biggest problem last year was the mental errors. I do not think Linderbaum will have those issues.

But if Zion Johnson and Linderbaum are both on the board at 24, I would take Johnson if I was Dallas. L do not think Linderbaum can play LG in the NFL and the Cowboys need a LG much more than they need a C. If they already had an adequate LG, I would consider taking Linderbaum.

It's been less transparent since MM took over as HC. Many didn't see the team landing Lamb/Parsons back to back years based on best player, which the Cowboys don't usually do.

I just watched the latest episode of the draft show. They think the pick is Green. Brian, Dave and Bobby Belt all
agreed. Bobby and Dave are very similar. They need someone else to spice up the draft coverage.

Increasingly, as I play around with the mock drafts, I find that I have the choice of at least one of the top guards and Linberbaum.

My personal preference would be to trade down in that scenario, but if a good deal does not present itself, which strategy do you prefer?

Draft Linderbaum and then sign one of the best remaining FA guards, such as Daryl Williams or Trai Turner, or draft one of the two top guards and ride with Biadasz?

I understand that we could address whatever position we don't address in the first in a later round, but I am assuming with all of our needs at different positions that we would be unlikely to go IOL with two of our top picks. What do you say?
Zion is OC or OG. More upside at OC than Linderbaum.

Belt had been dead on this off-season, Green could be the lead guy at the position
