The real crime committed to his career was when Booger said he's the only QB that can play behind that OL. Did he truly understand the self-incrimination in that statement? Romo's agent and wife sure did?

They had to work that spin move into the playbook. Why draft linemen when you’re making brilliant moves like Felix Jones, Roy Williams, the special teams draft, etc etc?? I could see how protecting the QB would take a backseat to such quality decision making through the height of his QBs career!

You won't get any conflict from me on that. Romo was the reason this team even had a chance at the playoffs. Without him, this was a 3 or 4-win team.

I don’t think this is controversial but out of all the guys we’ve had since Troy I think he was the best out of making you feel like “we can do anything” on O. Just uncanny ability to make plays/throws. He also could just as easily break your heart.

Absolutely agree. It was very heartbreaking especially after the loss @ greenbay. I wanted a superbowl for Tony. He MORE THAN ANYONE since the 90's, deserved a championship.

But for those of us who grew up with Meredith and Staubach and then enjoyed the 90’s dynasty with Aikman , our bar is much higher.

Unfortunately that’s part of sports. You can’t always have HOF QB’s and championship teams. Romo did the best he could with what he had and dysfunctional ownership around him.And he is no doubt one of the greatest Undrafted QB in NFL history.

I’m sure he’s very comfortable with his place in history considering where he came from. He almost didn’t even get a chance to play.

I grew up watching Staubach and went back several years ago and watched Staubach, and I think fans view the past with rose-colored glasses. There were lots of times when Staubach played worse than just about anything we ever saw from Romo, but he had a great defense or running game to rescue him Yes, there were other times he elevated the team, but the team would have failed if it did not bail him out the times when he struggled.

I do want to point out that it was a different time period when different things were expected from quarterbacks, but there were some playoff games during our Super Bowl seasons where Staubach was downright awful for a large portion of the game. I think we'd view him and Aikman both differently if they played on the teams and under the coach that Romo was saddled. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I see from growing up watching both.

I know some won't like it because I'm "talking bad" about a legend, but it's easy to see if you go back and watch the games. However, if Romo had been born and played during that time, I'm sure he would not have been any better.

All I'm saying is that fans' bar is higher because it was set by quarterbacks on championship-ready teams.

You’re certainly entitled to your opinion. Nothing I witnessed prepares me to rewrite history.

Whenever I’m split or unsure with potential blurred vision from my rose colored Cowboy glasses I often reach out to others who aren’t Cowboy fans and ask them. Their objective view is usually a good indication . Kinda reminds me of how we view our own children or loved ones often difficult to be as objective .

Football is a sum sport. And it’s a team game. Ultimately winning is the greatest measurement of success and greatness with few exceptions. Yes, there’s many great individual talents who are represented in the HOF who didn’t play on championship teams. It’s awesome we recognize them.

But you’re right . If Roger and Troy didn’t play on great teams they may not have had as much success. But they did and they took advantage of it.

The Landry era is a great example . Tom is only HC in NFL history who took 4 different QB’s to a championship game in 3 different decades with same franchise . Some excellent teams with all 4 QB’s. All good enough to win a championship . But only one did.

If Romo had a longer career like playing 15 years instead of only about 7 full seasons putting up his numbers he might have had a better shot for induction. Archie Manning one of my favorite QB to watch growing up was a joy to watch but never played on a winning or playoff team. I always thought he was good enough to win it. And Romo may have been to.

But winning matters If you don’t put up those career type best of your era numbers which Romo never did . Not one year did he lead the league in passing. In 2014 he did lead the league in QB rating and was his most effective or efficient year. I thought that team had a shot. And a shame he never got another chance in the playoffs. That shortened career is part of the reason he’ll never make induction, that’s not all his fault.

There’s nothing wrong with the career he had. Much to be proud of. Kinda reminds me of Danny White. Injuries cut his career short too. I often thought playing on a lesser team made Romo look better. Kinda like Archie.

Yeah, I've always felt that both QB's were the ones better suited for their respective teams, and both would probably have failed miserably in the other's shoes.

Thankfully, Dallas Cowboy quarterback Tony Romo is doing something atypical for an NFL player. Romo’s making positive headlines.

According to sources, Romo bought a homeless man a ticket to see a movie at a theater in Dallas. If that wasn’t enough, Romo invited the homeless man, who goes by the name of "Doc," to sit next to him and his friend during the flick.

Doc, who hadn’t showered for a few days, expressed concern that he might stink.

"Don't worry about that," Romo said. "I'm used to locker rooms."

Fittingly, Romo and Doc watched the comedy Role Models.

never heard of this but some of you guys in the Dallas area probably knew of this.

I feel the opposite on White as far as Romo reminding me of him. I think he made those teams worse than they should have been. Sure, we were losing some of the talent that had made us great, but White was a bad playoff QB who had more success than he probably should have because of who his coach was and being on decent teams that could have been great IMO with a better QB. White finished the playoffs with more interceptions (16) than TDs. Even for his era, that was bad.

I don't know if Romo would have fared better under Landry, but considering what he did under a much lesser coach with definitely a much less talented defense to back him, I feel like he probably would have ended up with a championship. It's too bad that Romo was unrefined when Parcells put him in as starter. I think if he'd been the 2014 Romo things might have went differently for both him and Parcells. I went back a while back and watched Romo's games his first year vs. later in his career and it was easy to see his vast improvement. He was still an exciting QB that first year (and in some ways more exciting because he was unrefined), but he had to develop into a quarterback we could have won with.

Romo couldnt handle pressure- Aikman thrived under it.
Thats why Aikman has 3 rings and Romo has 3 straight loses when he needed a win to get in the playoffs not to mention the botched field goal snap. Its not a coincidence. Romo couldnt handle pressure games

Football was never Tony Romo's First Love.....it was basketball and golf.

Tony Romo is the best basketball player at the QB position since Troy Aikman
